A word on the gouge at Pinnacle
Actually this goes for all airlines - at Pinnacle there is a ridiculous amount of gouge available - if you can't get thru ground school you should be taken out back and shot. 1) Memory items are a no brainer, 2) Limitations pretty straight forward, 3)Systems test - when you see the "gouge" that is available you'll understand why this should be a no brainer as well.
A caution about the gouge - as a warning I've seen some new hires at this and several other airlines get so hyped about various gouge materials that they only study the gouge. It can be a good study aid but don't rely on it. And please go more in depth than what's actually written in black and white on the gouge material. Alot of people simply memorize the exact gouge and then when the Check Airman/Sim Instructors ask it a slightly different fashion or ask them to actually apply it guys sit there with a deer in the headlights look because the extent of their systems "knowledge" is the very limited amount of information on the gouge sheets.
Gouge can be a very useful study tool - just don't make it the only tool you use.
