A word on the gouge at Pinnacle

Actually this goes for all airlines - at Pinnacle there is a ridiculous amount of gouge available - if you can't get thru ground school you should be taken out back and shot. 1) Memory items are a no brainer, 2) Limitations pretty straight forward, 3)Systems test - when you see the "gouge" that is available you'll understand why this should be a no brainer as well.

A caution about the gouge - as a warning I've seen some new hires at this and several other airlines get so hyped about various gouge materials that they only study the gouge. It can be a good study aid but don't rely on it. And please go more in depth than what's actually written in black and white on the gouge material. Alot of people simply memorize the exact gouge and then when the Check Airman/Sim Instructors ask it a slightly different fashion or ask them to actually apply it guys sit there with a deer in the headlights look because the extent of their systems "knowledge" is the very limited amount of information on the gouge sheets.

Gouge can be a very useful study tool - just don't make it the only tool you use.

Or....or...perhaps one could study the actual material presented in class by the instructors. One could even be so crazy as to study the aircraft manuals that they give you in class...on the actual aircraft you will be flying.

We are a bad influence, we know NOTHING, we will tell them the wrong things, they will get FIRED if seen with us. They tell stories (one sided of course) of F/A mishappenings with pilots and the outcome (F/A gets fired).

The company keeps a few spies in the hotel that report back to the instructors. The classmates have even turned each other in. Bottom line.. most new F/A's these days really avoid the pilot's which is a 180 from years ago. Years back most new F/A's were hooked up before graduation... that is if your into that:rolleyes:

None fer me

In my opinion females do nothing but distract you from where and what you're supposed to be doing. It causes men to think with the wrong head:-) That's when things start going out the window. When I was in the Marines I stayed far away from all the W.M's, "Women Marines." Other Jarheads couldn't and they always paid for it somehow by getting some sort of sexual harrassment against them. Seeing that go on for 5 yrs. was enough to teach me a lesson in life, no matter what organization you're affiliated with. Focus, focus, focus, with the head mounted on your shoulder's.

Mtnjam..

welcome to the company.. good luck in training...

I am not being negative, but in the first few days you will hear these words...
"we work hard at this comany and we play even harder"

It will more than likely come from the sexual harrassment officer:) and that is NOT a joke... Watch her body language, and then wait until you do CRM with the F/A's.

It is a sight to see and since you have been forwarned you will snicker by some of the double standards that exist during training...

*sigh* The good ole' days of training...

When two flight attendants got into a fist fight at the Holiday Inn bar over a guy while 6 of us were in the corner studying and the cops showed up; after that they separated the pilots from the f/a's in different hotels for a while.

When three flight attendants got arrested for DUI, endangerment of a child (her kid she picked up while drunk), and Public Intoxication; after that, the 12 hour rule for drinking was implemented for ALL ground school classes, initial and recurrent, pilots and f/a's. Gee thanks girls.

When a stripper f/a on an overnight in MEM took the Capt and F/O to the club and picked up two other strippers and took them back to her hotel with her, proceeded to get drunk, then no-showed the trip in the morning. KM and JW got hotel management to open the door and found all three of the girls sprawled naked on top of the bed. Took the f/a to do a pee test and before she got there she said, "I need help". Problem was, since she never reported for duty, she never attempted to fly drunk so she sued the company for wrongful termination and won, to the tune of $650,000. Now we don't hire strippers; too bad, at least they're young and fun to look at instead of the battle axes they started hiring instead.

All of the above made for great pilot mattresses during training; now you're lucky if they'll even blink in your direction. Not that I'm complaining, I outgrew playing with f/a's after my psycho-slut-near-sexual-harrassment experience two years ago. Thank God for witnesses...

Best advice for new-hires:

DON'T PLAY WITH THE HELP!!!

Very few of the settlements are announced by the company for obvious reasons. JS got nearly $1 Million AND had his record changed to reflect that he quit rather than got fired, several others settled for $100k to $250k and they just kept it quiet.

Still trying to figure out what Malek got and JH's waiting on the judge to hand down his decision last I heard...

If the pilots knew how much money people were getting after they were wrongfully terminated, a lot more people would be challenging these illegal work rules (sick and fatigue call policy just to name one), getting canned then suing for career earnings plus damages.

 Where can I find the gouge for Pinnacle Training? I also want to find out what chapters to Study in the Atp Gleim redbook for the Interview.

Well Lear 70 my friend, apparently we've been going about this job the wrong way. In order to get paid and fix the problems we've been having with the pilot payroll department, we need to

1. overnight in MEM
2. recruit some strippers and go out on a bender
3. miss our showtimes and admit we have a 'problem'
4. collect (CH-CHING!!!)

J Smith, street captain from Beagle.

Who says I didn't do all of those things - I just didn't get caught! :D

MANAGEMENT DISCLAIMER: I'M KIDDING!!!
