Wasn't trying to fire anybody up, wasn't even enjoying the fact people might loose their jobs. So I apologize. Truthfully I am a airline business economist and I overheard some pilots talking about this in the Denver airport a couple of days ago. I just wanted some feed back from the people who are in the industry, I am truly sorry for stiring up so much angst.
Super, if that's true then I apologize for saying you spank it to www.hotgrannies.com.

I can't speak for everyone, but I think the thing that set me off was my (apparently) incorrect view that you were just trying to stir things up. A couple of things stood out:

1. You are a new poster
2. Your comment that it "sounded too good to be legit"

The last one was the clincher for me. Growing up in Oklahoma, I remember a typical spring afternoon and there were tornadoes popping up everywhere, tearing up houses. A newly hired, young meteorologist was covering the storm and when he was shown some "just shot" video of a particularly nasty F4 churning up a field, he made the mistake of saying on the air "ladies and gentlemen, that's just a beautiful site". Oops. On it's own, in a group of meteorologists, yes, maybe it was beautiful. To the family, who moments before had their 4th generation farmhouse destroyed by that same twister, the station manager and about a thousand angry viewers who called, the comments were inappropriate.

Just remember there are a lot of people on this board who will be directly impacted by Delta’s future, regardless of where it ends up. We don’t think its destruction is beautiful.

The meteorologist apologized and kept his job. So did you.

Forgiven and forgotten.

Take care,

-J

;)Fmrfreight....Well Said! I like the way you think and I for one, would follow you! Somebody has to stop this slide...Go DALPA and any other pilot who would like to regard this as a TRUE PROFESSION!!! We MUST stand together whether we are Union or Non-Union!

not sure how true it is but doesn't mesa have all the CRJ-900/905 orders for the next year and a half locked in? Thus no one else can get 900's for at least 18 months?

So correct me if I'm wrong, but that would make SKYW pilots scabs correct? Yeah that just sounds fricking kickass man!

If DAL pilots go on strike there really isn't anything DCI carriers will be able to do to save mother DAL. Unless the strike is resolved in a matter of hours it's all over. Eventually other carriers will pick up the routes and a good portion of the feed. SKYW has a lot of money in the bank even after buying ASA so they will make it through. Overall there will be less capacity and less demand for feed. The LCC's that serve ATL will pick up some market share. Many of the DCI airlines have other codeshares so many of those pilots will stil be working, especially if their partner airlines go after the former DAL flying. It will be ugly.

Anyone who believes the post that started this thread needs a drug test.

Heard today that some/all retired delta pilots never got their Oct. pension. Don't know how true it is, but if it is, it really sucks for all of our futures.:erm:

I think there is a large misunderstanding on this board. If Delta pilots go on strike it is over. It is over for DAL, ASA, Comair, and maybe even SKYW... They have some United flying but the furlough would still be big. The creditors that hold Delta afloat will cut and run the liquidation would be fast.

I think you're right to an extent. Sadly for CMR it would be the end of the game. ASA being 100% DCI might no longer exist in a recognizable form. SKYW still has a substantial amout of UAX flying and could possibly press the former DCI aircraft into UAX service replacing Mesa in markets where UAL is dissatisfied with Mesa's performance. I think SKYW would have a smaller pilot group but the company would survive.

I am amazed that Beatty is still hearing the DAL BK case. She should recuse herself and seek counselling. From what I've read she sounds like a nutcase. No judge should speculate publicly on how they might rule on a case in progress.

I heard that if Delta breaks the pilot contract Skywest will step in with up to 200 CRJ900's for Delta. I guess its a done deal just waiting on the legal stuff. I don't know sounds to good to be legit!!

Similar rumor floating around Mesa. 85 CRJ 900's. I remind you, Mesa has a TON of options for the CRJ 900 that it can exercise . . . .

My guess . . . Skywest will get some, Mesa will get some. That way when contracts are up for renewal, they can play the vendors against each other. They're not gonna let their nuts be put in a vice like when the Comair guys went on strike ever again.

Don't shoot the messenger . . . I'm merely a conduit to MAG rumor central . . .

Can anyone explain to me why anyone would be happy to fly a 900 at a dci carrier? We will do it for low pay (Mesa,CHQ) or 50 seat pay (Skywest) or maybe if we're lucky 70 seat pay for now (ASA). Is it because it's just a bigger airplane? I can't think of how it's good for anyone.
