Why don't non-furloughed pilots of furloughing airlines offer to help out their fellow furloughed pilots from their own airline?
Using Continental as an example and not having access to accurate data, it appears to me that the almost 5000 non-furloughed pilots could easily put $2000+/mth in the pockets of 150 furloughed Continental pilots by simply donating one day a month of their pay. $2000/mth doesn't replace what they are losing while on furlough, but it would go a long way towards helping those guys make ends meet and send a clear message that they are valued members of the pilot group.
Why don't guys step up like this in industry?... or does it happen and I'm just not aware.
