You happen to be in luck...because that day is today.

I just went to priceline.com to purchase a ticket from MKE to LAX. Midwest flight 1505 is an EMB 145 with money being collected by a Republic Airways subsidiary and operated by a Republic Airways subsidiary. No legacy is involved in this transaction.

It is all controlled by Republic Airways Holdings!

You don't read very well. It says Midwest flight. You even typed it yourself. When you go to Priceline, orbitz, sidestep or travelocity and search by airline there is no such thing as Republic. I even went as far as trying to find a reservations number, no such thing. I called the HQ but they just gave me the number to another airline Midwest or Frontier.

Republic Airways is not a regional or a LCC. Republic Airways is an airline conglomerate.

DEN is a dead stick....SWA will spend 100 million dollars and put whoever is flying Frontier routes out of business or at least out of DEN....this will happen...count on it!

So what is left? well Midwest routes.....and we all know how that has been going. Remember Republic cannot compete with companies on routes that the fly RJ's for. This will box them in to very few routes and cause them to sell off Airbuses and or lose a lot of money.

Midwest is part of Republic. The only way to invest in Midwest is to buy shares of Republic Airways Stock.

Are you really that thick? What does investors have to do with anything? Face it there are no republic ticket counter, reservationists or tickets. I don't think there are many people going to ETRADE.COM to buy their plane tickets.

What is your point anyways?

My point is that someone who calls Republic a regional doesn't have the big picture. Republic Airways has become a conglomerate of feeder airlines and stand-alone airlines. Assetts can be shifted back and forth at the discretion of Republic Airways to meet market demands.

First - Republic owns gates, slots and ground handling at many airports. They also have infastructure necessary to sell tickets and operate independently.

Second- They have lots of contracts with many airlines...so their contracts will never all expire at once. Also, they have been gaining contracts.....not losing contracts.

Third - If they lose a contract, they will just add routes and destinations to stand-alone airlines that they control (Midwest and Frontier). Since all pilots will be under one seniority list, it gives everyone much better job security.

Republic Airways Conglomerate have 215 airframes plus the 51 or so frontier bus's. Alright, if you think they have enough gates within those to systems not to mention the demand from the flying public you're mistaken. If they were to lose all of their contracts planes would be parked. It's not easy to break into new markets either.

I don't think they are losing any sleep. They have plenty of contracts and are well diversified amoung the network carriers.

You do realize that Frontier was in bankruptcy and the last year Frontier posted an operating profit was 2003?

You do realize all of Republic's flying is fee for departure. What numbers do you think they would post if they had to stand alone?

Good point....Frontier and Midwest might drag Republic down a bit since they don't have guaranteed profits from "fee for departure" contracts.

I think Republic is large enough that they should be able to support the dead weight of Frontier and Midwest while they try to figure out how to make those two companies profitable again. You are already seeing Republic re-align Frontier aircraft to Midwest routes in order to try to improve the failing business model of Frontier.
