Wait till compnay starts dragging the captains out on the carpet for write-ups let alone getting a crew lunch without chief pilot approval -- they are looking to make examples of employees so everyone gets in line...

Luckily, Options pilots will have union representation. Punitive measures often backfire and the examples given are more reasons the pilots need a strong union backing them up. Watch your step out there it can be hazardous this time of year...

Thanks, Phoenix! :) When it comes to manners and inappropriate comments for the board you and I are in complete agreement.

F9, I'd like to expound on your opinion that I'm a gadfly. "Gadfly" is a term for people who upset the status quo by posing upsetting or novel questions, or attempts to stimulate innovation by proving an irritant. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gadfly_(social) I fully admit that I am against the status quo of underpaying frac pilots. I do consistently nudge the pilots into standing up to management. I do remind the Options pilots to pay their dues so that they are better prepared to fight for their contract. It is my opinion that pilots should be allowed to vote on the question of whether or not they want to organize. Sometimes those posts can irritate the anti-union group, but those I support appreciate the encouragement. So can you please just ignore the posts that are irrelevant to you?

As to the assertion that I post "hearsay" or "gossip", I don't agree. Those who know me and/or my husband are aware that I actually know far more than I discuss on this board. I generally stick to union and/or human interest topics that I am well versed in and which have nothing to do with seat time. According to your narrow definition of accurate information even the pilots here should only comment on the plane(s) they fly/have flown and no other topic. Perhaps a gadfly needs to ask you to broaden your horizons....:p

Ideas on how to improve wages/work conditions throughout the frac industry and support for those involved in that endeavor don't require a flying certificate. That said, I have an excellent source of information, not only in my husband, but among the pilots that I talk to/PM with on a regular basis. My thanks to those who include me in their conversations and my thanks to you, F9, for noticing that I'm right....;)

No butt in the seat time? How many days does she or any other significant other carry the weight at home when you're out flying? The spouses of pilots have far more stamina and fortitude than any pilot. That support group is second to none. You must not be married or you wouldn't criticise the sacrifice one such as NJW endures every day.
 
Thanks, Pervis! :) It isn't an easy lifestyle, that's for sure!! Which is why I feel so strongly about the frac pilots/families receiving professional compensation for the skill and sacrifice the pilots and their families contribute to the success of the companies.

Sounds like you're describing Mike and Sanjay, except for the some of it being right part.

So your husband discusses internal union issues with you not known by the general membership?
 
Those who know me.....means that I have my own personal knowledge of situations taking place through my friendship with pilots who have seen that I am discreet. I also read the NJ board closely but there are some events that I don't discuss here as they have no bearing on the topics under discussion.

Those who know my husband don't discount the level of my understanding of how the union works, of the fact that pilots can count on a Steward being there to represent them, or my comments on training being improved and streamlined, etc. Unfortunately, many in the general membership are unaware of how hard my husband works on their behalf (those who know him have a good idea) while I see it up close and personal. It isn't necessary to know the confidential details to understand the work being done. The AF used the "need to know" rule so I'm quite used to my husband operating under it. I even use it myself. I posted about sending cards but left out the names and reasons that are personal.

Diesel, you and I are both aware that volunteers wind up with a greater understanding of union issues than the general membership does...:rolleyes: Some members are so happy with the new contract that they rarely even read the board anymore. On the other hand, some pilots call our house frequently and chat with me a few minutes when I answer the phone. Just happened, in fact. It was___________ and we talked about ______ while he waited for my husband to finish a _____ call. As I walked up to hand ____ the house phone I heard him say the word _________and goodbye to ________. You can't be married to a Union leader without being aware of what's going on. ;) I hope that all of the NJ pilots have a good support network at home. It makes the job much easier, whether they're flying or working on Union issues.
