U.S. airlines have 10 percent fewer employees than they did four years ago and 6 percent fewer workers than they did one year ago, according to a government report.
Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) is among the U.S. carriers that have bucked the trend, expanding its work force by 5 percent during the last year.
