By Bernard Simon in Toronto
Friday Feb 22 2008 13:50
Canada's Bombardier expects to launch its long-delayed CSeries aircraft later this year amid signs of interest from prospective customers for the 110-130-seat planes.
Bombardier on Friday named several airlines, including Lufthansa and Qatar Airways, as well as International Lease Finance, a big aircraft leasing company, that have expressed interest in the aircraft.
It is also in discussions with US airlines that will soon need to replace large fleets of ageing MD-80 and DC-9 aircraft, including Northwest (NASDAQ:NWAC) and Delta (NYSE
AL) , which are currently in merger talks.
