GoJet rocks. I'm furloughed from a major airline. I went to GoJet in January. I got off IOE in April and had a line in May with 15 days off. I'm looking at an upgrade in Aug or Sept. And I get to work and live in the United States. The pay's comparable, the planes work good and most of the other pilots ar cool. I have a recall number and I don't give a shlt what anyone else thinks. I have health insurance for my family and I'm staying current. I get two paychecks a month. Also, most of the flight attendants are smokin' hot.

I'm honestly interested to know what you think about CL's advice... Assuming you work for United, you no doubt were pulling at least 100k (unless you're a BRAND NEW HIRE at UA) per year. How could you go off to work every week in STL, see your 6 year old scarcely, make $h!t for money and get bent over the barrel work-rules wise just so you can keep calling yourself an airline pilot? Why not roll up your sleeves and get a job in landscaping, construction or other manual labor. I'd sure as hell take that option over going to work for GJ and incurring the spite and ill-will of most of the industry, as well as making it harder for me to look at myself in the mirror every morning.

Why are you so desperate to get a job in aviation that you'd lower yourself to working for GJ?

You know not of what you speak little tike. I was over being an airline pilot while you were still sucking on a bottle and trying not fall out of your crib. That job holds no glamor for me.

I went to work for Gojet around the end of 2006, for the same reasons that you’re talking about. (Except I never did my research), I used to think that Gojet never hurt the industry… boy was I wrong, people care and always will. Did it hurt my chances to move on? NO. But do you really want that thought in the back of your mind every time you apply for a job. Best of luck in your decision, I hope something better come up for you.

I find this interesting because I commute to work on different airlines and I still have crews asking me who GoJet is?? (mainly in the Northwest part of the country) Not many mind you...but some.This has been hammered so many times I think I'm just going to start cutting and pasting to save my fingers. The pilots at GoJet have done absolutly nothing wrong. Management made GoJet to get around the A/A scope clause. The pilots of TSA turned down the flying with alot of pushing from Dario and ALPA. The airline was going to be started with or without TSA pilots. The TSA pilots decided to listen to very bad advice and paid the price. I'm not reccomending anyone come here. This is Trans States Airlines with the same horrible Management, maintenance, schedules etc....it just says GoJet on the plane. Why anyone would stay at either airline longer than needed is beyond me.

I can think of at least one former GJ pilot, initial cadre no less, who is now at Delta, so the major pilot hiring committes dont give a royal damn about where you came from.

Before GJ, he was at Chicago Express I believe. I was in GJ Dispatch, also Initial Cadre, and he sat behind me in systems class

I work at GoJet and so far, I don't have anything bad to say at all. If you are looking for a job, I would not let a few haters on here discourage you. Where else can you get a flying job in the United States? The pay is the same as everywhere else. The schedules aren't bad. And, the pilot group is made up of mostly furloughed guys from major airlines. I think anyone who would pass up the opportunity just because of some cranky dudes around here is a fool.

This may matter.

I know several people who were furloughed from ASA, and hired at GOJETS. When they reported to class, they all had to sign and mail, in class, a template type letter to ASA resigning their position and forfeiting all recall rights.

I know this happened to 3 pilots. I am guessing it may be required to work there if you are furloughed from another carrier. CHECK IT OUT!

Someone on this board should be able to confirm that issue.

Very well said. Especially number 2. The damage was already done in 2005 by TSA themselves, not by anyone else. GJ pilots came after the no vote, not before. People are out of their minds if they think they can change their failures of letting a separate list happen. What kind of irresponsible alpa leadership would allow that to happen?

All good points, especially #5. Former GoJetters have moved on to every corner of the Aviation world. While some refuse to accept this...it's a fact of life. Laid off and have a family? GoJet New Hire minimums have been raised from 500 hours total and 50 hours multi-engine to 1,000 total and 200 multi engine. Captain upgrade times have increased as well. Bottom line, If you're out of work and want to keep flying, and want to stay in the United States, GoJet is about the only domestic option at this time.

I hate to break it to you as well but if Gojet is your only choice, you have problems way beyond losing a job. I know many pilots who are laid off and have found gainful employment OUTSIDE of flying until they get recalled. They all considered taking a crappy flying job but realized they could make equal or better money doing something else and be home enjoying their family every night. Really, these "I can't do anything but go to GoJet" folks are either low time wanna-bes still looking for flight time or hopelessly uneducated dolts who just can't cut it outside of the cockpit.

In the past I used to work for Eagle. TSA had 15 or so airplanes flown as american connection painted almost exactly like eagle planes. These planes where actually owned by AMR as well. So you guys were flying airplanes AMR paid for painted like Eagle. FYI, we looked at TSA just like you guys look at GoJet. It was fine that this went on at TSA, however, when the shoe is on the other foot, now it is magically wrong.

By the same token American guys looked down on us as if we were taking their flying. So in review, American looked down on Eagle, Eagle looked down on TSA, and TSA looks down on GoJet. See the pattern. Most regionals are fairly similar, they all suck.

The lesson? To look down on someone else for their actions, while you are doing the same thing they are is pathetic.

Republic, Chataq. and Shuttle is the same thing. Republic wants them all so that one day they can pit them against each other when contracts come up. Look at the historyof Eagle just prior to 1997, that is exactly what happened.

I grow weary of this apples to oranges comparison. These are two completely different scenarios. Eagle was scoped out initially and couldn't have any more planes. At the least second there was some relief but AMR sent the planes to TSA any way. TSA pilots did NOT hire on in an effort to gain seniority to screw the Eagle pilot group.

Go Jet was created to whipsaw the TS pilot group. There was no reason the TSA group could not have a blended list. Republic was doing it with Chaniqua. TSA pilots that went over were given seniority over what they had from date of hire at TSA. It was a senoirty grab at the expense of another pilot group.

I'm all for putting myself first but I am not going to intentionally step on someone elses neck to do so.

All the Go Jet pilots today, whatever. All the d0uchebags that went from TSA during the initial move and all the guy that hired on before the NMB decision, you're turds. Everyone that came after, enjoy working for that goat rimming Hulas.
