Alright, try not to tear me apart too much, but what's the real deal with this place? I've read most everything on here over the years, my curiosity extends to the current need for direct hire captains. What kind of schedule are they flying, how bad is it really to get a jumpseat( I live in MSP) I'm being furloughed from the 744 on the 29th, and have no desire to make regional FO wages... Is it worth the pain and suffering... FWIW I've already lined up a King Air captain position, I'm just exploring my other options.

I upgraded on my 1 yr anniversary, schedule is a pref bid set up. I usually got what I wanted when I was not on reserve. Only had 2 months reserve when I got hired. I don't think they are hiring DEC's anymore or CQfo's either. Open RDU base on april 15th.
I heard all kinds of rumors when I was thinking about Gojet. After 13 months, I have not had a single problem. We'll see now that I have upgraded. The folks that complain the most are those on furlough from main line. It's actually better than where I came from. Just operate the aircraft by their gom and your golden.
It's a hard decision to drop to first yr fo pay. But upgrades are fast. We have about 50+ united furloughs and they are slowly being called back so there is movement and the 12 planes coming for the delta flying. New hire classes were running 30 to 40 people. My only complaint is sitting reserve in stl as a new captain, but I wont be there long.
Hope that helps. I'm happy, and that's all that matters.

You are PERFECT for GoJet........

I see this time and time again. People arguing over bottom feeder airlines etc. The fact is that when you get your time and go to an interview at a Major, the interview panel doesn't give a crap where you built your time. In fact, you will probably progress faster than they guy who took the job at the company with the higher pay and benefits.

In this self-serving industry, until the guys who do interviews at the majors make those jobs dead end, nothing is going to change. I think we all know that won't happen because nobody cares after they get their golden ticket.

What is the color of the sky in your world? Do you think these same individuals should be running the airline?

The Airlines love to farm out flying. Why would they punish the ones that are doing the flying. If anything the ones doing the flying should get priority interviewing .

You live in a dream world, if you thing some angry pilots should be doing the interviewing.

You kill me with your thinking

1 yr upgrade sounds sweet. Who cares if its over at GJ. I think its the vocal minority on here who bandwagon hatred for the airline. Get your PIC and move up. Thats what should matter.

GJ is where you'll want to be if you're looking for fast upgrades. Other reagionals are stagnant, we're growing. Mitsubishi Jets on order....they're going to GJ. Company gives us the growth just as when we devloped we gave the company growth. Pinkbush on the top still! Gear down richards!

Thanks for the few valid responses. I'm not looking for the TPIC. I've got plenty. I'm just looking to minimize the pain of the paycut...

You are PERFECT for GoJet........

And you're not right? Cause when you were out lowering the bar it was ok. Now this guy's trying to lower the bar and you're gonna throw stones? We feed our families, we have QOL, and we set the standards. Glad to know you started your career in the 319 right seat and never stepped on a stepping stone.

LATE! Dumby

Mmmmhmm...good attitude...Just wait until HK starts another company to go fly those MRJs...sound familiar?

I get the 'hate GoJet' and 'Mesa sux' mentality out there because I was one of them.

Let me enlighten some of you. I was at ASA for 7 years and left for the golden ticket ride at a major fractional. (the majors were all furloughing at the time so i figured i could get there quicker one day by going this route) After another 7 years here, now I'm getting furloughed. The one major lesson I've seen and learned? Hate it or love it, getting your PIC time is GOLDEN. I too was proud of where i came from, not having gone to gulfstream, mesa, etc. but you know what? All of those guys that did were senior to me at this company, and they will all be senior to me and you at the majors one day..

This doesnt apply to the 121 CPTs, but to all the FOs that will be in the right seat for the next 5+ years.. Hmmmm, sit here and wait 5 years to upgrade and another 2 years to build PIC and then get on with a major, or go to a place like GJ now and bypass the next 7 years of waiting..

Look, i dont like any more than most of you do, but it's the way it is right now. I am probably going to to GJ as a DEC myself because there is no way i could survive on FO pay by going anywhere else. In my case i dont need PIC time either, but i need the pay... I am so torn....

All good points, but I value my sleep, too.

FYI... They are no longer hiring "DEC's" or, in their nomenclature...CQFO's (captain qualified fo's). They only needed about 35 of them and they reached that goal a long time ago.

That's the thing with principles.....they are not always EASY to uphold.

Yes they are. Trust me..

And yes, I agree about the principles. On the other hand, i need to feed my family. I hope it's a short tenure..

Actually. No.

But good luck with that. Let us know how it works out for you!

Not only that, but it appears the CQFOs they did hire never actually fly in the left seat, thus never get left-seat pay. They just get to sit around and wait for that "six-month upgrade".
