I recently heard that Frontier is now making jumpseaters subject to inspection per the TSA's directive on personal non-rev travelers. Can anyone confirm this for me? I was told that jumpseaters will now receive the ***** code (the code for pre board screening) on their request card and they will have to go through secondary screening prior to boarding. I have also been told that they are enforcing the 3.5oz liquid rule during this secondary screening regardless of your uniform since they no commuters are not traveling on official business. Can anyone verify this for me.

The rumor is true, it happened to a friend this weekend. He had to run back to security to get screened, got his shaving cream taken, all while in uniform. Anybody know what the deal is?

It is true for those that dont list prior to getting to the gate. I don't know much else right now. I am trying to get more info from our jumpseat chairman and I will pass on any info I get.

Post the listing number?

Although I totally believe it, that is completely rediculous. You can buy liquids on the other side of security!! They're allowed on aircraft!

Friggen TSA idiots. So now, any passenger can carry a bottle of water on an airplane, but I myself... a badged uniformed 121 air carrier pilot... cannot?

It happened to me on Frontier out of Denver and I listed ahead of time. I politely complied and returned to security. The TSA actually told me they thought the whole thing was ridiculous and did not take away any liquids(I was in uniform). In all fairness to Frontier, I have heard of this happening on other airlines.

I had the same thing happen on Sun Country. Didn't list at the ticket counter, so I got the extra screening right in the boarding area in front of pax. Other than that to SC folks were super nice and I actually got a sandwich on the flight.

For what it's worth, our jumpseat committee reps are working hard with the company to ammend this interpretation of the the TSA directive. In the mean time it is recommended that you list in advance on the listing number (1-800-432-1359) and receive a pnr, and book your listing round trip even if you only are headed one way. This should avoid this annoying hassle.

Our JS committee says they have it fixed as of today with some TSA directive to the Frontier security people. It should be communicated to the gate agents today too.

Good luck.

Just a note, Frontier uses a CASS system that uses two letter codes. If you fly for a airline that has a 3-letter code it doesn't work. I know its not important to everyone, but it is to some of us. Viva Denver!

Just curious, but why are you showing the TSA your boarding pass with the SSSS on it anyway? Are they requiring it to get through the security checkpoint? I can't remember the last time I needed a boarding pass to get through security while in uniform.
