Fresh New Colgan Rumor

You guys kill me! One of the biggest complaints has been about how people would have issues with getting a hotel room or even a ride to the hotel. The Colgans have actually listened to you and done something about it by hiring an outside company to do this so we won't have to wait for a ride or show at a hotel and not have a room booked. But you have turned this into the "Colgans are not in control anymore" and "this is the beginning of the end". They have done something to try to alleviate one of the biggest complaints and all you do is complain. Either you are drinking too much ALPA coolaid or you are IDIOTS!

Hmmm management calling Colgan pilots a bunch of idiots, I think that explains why we are in the situation we are in the first place.

BTW most of the posts complaining about LodgeX are pilots from other airlines who use their service.

And that is my point. Tactics have been used on ALPA side but no one seems to want to acknowledge that. Everyone wants to act as if ALPA does nothing wrong. Just don't be mad at ALPA when they disappoint you , because they didn't do it, the pilots did. That is the way they operate.

And to be specific, I did not call all Colgan pilots idiots. I didn't even call some Colgan pilots idiots. In fact, I did not call any Colgan pilots idiots. The people that would turn the hotel company announcement into "doom and gloom" when it is apparent the Colgans were trying to do something good. Regardless if they are a Colgan pilot or not. Thats who I was talking about. Because in my opinion, and my opinion only, they are idiots.

Have you ever worked any where else? If you have it was obviously a great place. Me on the other hand have worked at other airlines and would consider Colgan a hell of a lot better place to work than some of the places I have worked. I'm sure you have heard some horror stories of some flight schools, part 135 outfits and other airlines. You just seem like someone pissed in your wheaties and you want the Colgans to pay for another box. ALPA, in my opinion, does not care about you, me or any Colgan pilot either. wow dude! I guess 76% of Colgan pilots (those who sent in their cards) are drinking too much alpa coolaid and are idiots and the 24% of which you belong are not drinking coolaid and are not idiots.

Small companies like Colgan are subsidized by the ALPA groups of big companies. they will NOT make money off of us. so their big interest in our 1.95% is not a valid arguement. HOWEVER what happens at Colgan affects the entire industry, THAT is there interest in us.

For example, I met an ex trans states now mainline pilot the other day. I told him that their 70 TP rate was figured into our "industry average" Q400 rate. He profusely apologized! I ensured him it wasn't his fault, but the point is, what happens at Colgan affects what happens at other places. I am sure when piedmont finally gets their Q400 rates they will have factored our rate into the equation.

We as professional airline pilots need to either not complain about anything or join in unity with other pilots to try to make it better.

IF you have another means that works better than ALPA to affect that change by all means tells us!

Just to let you know ifly that there have been attempted rapes at hotels that this new company has put its crews in.

Before this company was put in place the hotels the crew members were staying at, NEVER had a problem. Basically, they went from staying at a Hilton to a Motel 6. Also it can take up to two and a half hours for this company to book a hotel room, if they 'forget' which they do often.

If you listened to your pilots down there in IAH, you would see that the biggest complaint is a lack of a commuter clause.

While screw scheduling policies and procedures (lack there of) is a major complaint, hotels itself is not the top of any list i've seen (I have about 50 lists from actual Colgan pilots)

excellent post. it is exactly that. what standards did Colgan pick for hotel selection? Honestly if Colgan compeletly revamped crew scheduling they could have probably averted the ALPA drive. they cause more misery, bitterness and frustration than anything else here. It isn't the schedulers themselves it is the company's policies with regard to cs and the complete lack of recourse for pilots when scheduling massively screws up your life. I think there is no accountability there at all. We all have sooooooooooooooooooooo many stories. And all you ever get is "i'm sorry, we are so swamped". we are "sorry" too, we are so frustrated that we just had to vote YES!!!!

PNCL CORP is probably glad because when it takes 3 years before the first contract is done they will not have to or by law adjust the Q rate for those 3 years. Yes it will take that long look at the current PNCL and ASA. The big thing you guys will lose is crew sch helpng you out at all. When I was at Colgan yes I got drafted and pissed many times when they were in need because we all know Colgan never has enough res. But there were many times when DOT, Mikey, Leroy helped me when I could not find someone to due a trip trade with for my sons events. My current airline is APLA I still get drafted and pissed off but it now is only one way when I ask for a favor I get sorry .

You should be a CSI instead of a pilot. My new company is boring and I like to go back to Colgan posts to laugh about old times. I started with 1000 hours upgraded and 2 years later left. The whole point of going to Colgan. ME thinks You must be one of those guys who goes over every post to figure out who someone is.

Did you ever think for one minute that maybe ALPA is the lesser of 2 evils? So OK, ALPA is not perfect in a not so perfect world. But having ALPA on board for the CJC Pilots brings many more benefits than just a contract or a voice. DO (At least I know how to spell the word correctly) you or any Colgan Pilot have any Loss of License Insurance? Do you or any Colgan Pilot have Free Legal Representation for legal matters pertaining to your job and career? (You really think the ASAP Program is going to be a free ticket to get out of jail when the Feds coming calling with an LOI?). ALPA offers many good things that the Colgan Pilots require for their career.

You want me to PM you? For what, so you can laugh in my face and ridicule me to tell me what an idiot I am and that what happened to me was entirely my fault? This is not the place to debate that. Sorry, I am much smarter than that. Someday I may write a book about my career of being an Airline Pilot including the current trials and tribulations. Or I could write a very long 20 page thread on FI and tell everyone the living hell I have been through for the last 7 months, but I have decided not to. Like 70 SS said, try walking the last 7 months in my shoes and you'll understand why I am so bitter now at Colgan Mgmt and why I will do whatever I can to help and support the ALPA OC to make this drive a success.

I may not matter to anyone at Colgan anymore and my vote won't count...so what. The way I see it, every Yes vote for ALPA is a vote for me and you and everyone's future. Look at the bigger picture, ALPA is more than just PCL or CJC. It's our entire industry and profession of which I will still be a participant of in the years to come.

To quote Mr. Spock from Star Trek 2, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the One." Hopefully, I can turn my misfortune into Inspiration for the Colgan Pilots to vote YES. I don't want anyone at Colgan or any Airline Pilot to go through what I have gone through the last 7 months. I firmly believe that ALPA will help bring a better place to work for pilots not just at Colgan, but anywhere in our industry. I hope that you (I mean every Pilot at Colgan) will take the time to make an honest assessment of your career and make a smart decision when your ballot info packet arrives in the mail.

As for me, I'm still gonna light up my Tiera Del Fuego when ALPA is voted in at CJC. You can't keep a good man down. Don't worry about me, I'll be just fine. Worry about your future now.

ALPA will GIVE us a contract? I don't think so. Any contract we get will be negotiated by COLGAN pilots. ALPA will provide their resources to back us up, just like management will use their resources.

Believe me that ALPA will not be making any money on CJC dues, as the resources involved with negotiating a contract are MUCH more than what our 1.95% will be.

If PCL does not care if we get ALPA, then why are they spending all that money on union busting lawyers? Seems like they could use that money to pay the bill with the contract mechanics in SYR so that we can get our planes worked on.
