Metro, Emb, CRJ, no LCA.

How long have you been here?
Was SAPA in place when you applied?
Ever hard flown 9.5 hours + and 12 legs in a Metro for 7.1 hours of pay?

Maybe you don't know all that has occured?

Duration eight plus Years

Sapa had just started with Shmidke at the helm and worked pretty well the first couple years.

8 Legs in the EMB, 16 hour duty day without an AP. I have family that did much more than you are me for less pay. I doubt that is the point though.

Has management at Skywest radically changed in how they treat the pilots? Absolutely.

Has the working conditions radically changed during my time at Skywest (ie not what I signed up for)? Absolutely.

Does Sapa seem completely out of touch and/or seem to work more as puppets (with some exceptions) for managment with little regard for what their constituants ask for? Absolutely.

Do you work in any form of the training dept? What is your role with Sapa?

Simple: leave, just go away. You bring down people that do not have a problem with their job, you do.

It was this way when you got here, and now you're pissed?

BTW, Todd wasn't as successful as you think, he did a good job-no doubt but he ran into the same dilemas as any other shop.

You didn't answer my questions boy. If you want to be taken seriously then you will need to do more than repeat the same stuff you have spewed on this board for years. I went back and read some of your posts. Always the same stuff over and over and over. In just a few minute scan I saw you tell half a dozen guys to "just leave and go work for mesa". I'll paraphrase the rest: "Alpa sucks, Alpa is the spawn of all evil and must be destroyed, Alpa will ruin everything and everybody.....there is not one good thing to be said about Alpa, Alpa is to blame for the deficit, world hunger, global warming, those rashes you keep getting, etc"

I'm going to just come right out and say it- You are like a broken record of missinformation. You really are not a deep thinker. Its almost as if you just read the anti alpa pull down menu on skywestonline and quote from there. Of course it is probably slightly more complicated than that. You in every way embody the attributes of a sell out to your peers. You are one of the sapa reps who IS IN BED WITH MANAGEMENT and it has benefited you well. Why, from your perspective would you want anything to change. Life is good for you so all your pilot brethren be damned! You do not represent your flying peers, you represent numero uno and that is it. You are the last person we ever wanted in Sapa representing us and yet you and many of the others, not unlike cockroaches do nothing to help, only take for yourself, leaving a foul stench for those you should have represented behind. Do I care for your kind? No, I despise your kind. You sir are the one in aviation that needs to get out before this profession is left so carved it up it will never have the chance to recover.

Ha Ha, I just found one of your posts regarding the pathetic 1.2% pay offer from management some time ago. I want everybody to take notice. This is the sapa way. It wouldn't make any difference if Skywest was making twenty trillion dollars a year the sapa reps will always be there to subtly suggest why we can't get a legitimate anything. The ol chicken little, the sky is falling so we best just be happy with effectively the pay cut we have had for all these years. The Sapa management apologists....classic.

"The survey results of the vote indicated that the majority were not happy with the pay increase amount, which was 1.2%. Since the time Skywest managment offered the increase Delta decreased flight hours at Skywest, Comair's fuloughing pilots and looking at substantial consessions, and Mesaba went 11.

So I'm thinking there will be no more negotiating, management is thinking there will be an ALPA drive soon anyway. Besides management feels the 6% MBIP bonus the employees have recieved is a pretty good increase in light of this industry."

CFIT, your faithful Sapa Rep

CFIT,

Why dont you refute his arguments, with facts.

Every post he made had hard facts, what else does there need to be?

120Torque, keep it comeing, Im sure many people who dont post still read your FACTS!!!

Second that, 120Torque, keep it coming. Clearly, ALPA isn't perfect, no organization is. However, the alternative, SAPA or no representation (they are equally worthless), is frightening.

I've been here almost 17 years.

Trust me, I know this industry.

Liken yourself to being a resident on an island for 17 years. You know your island very well. But don't flatter yourself that you know this industry. Sure you can read about what goes on at other carriers... but that is like reading about flying another aircraft... not until you actually operate and gain experience will you know this industry.... And the experience we are talking about is political experience. NOT part121 flight time.

17 years... indicates that you have no desire to move on. You like your palm trees, coconuts and hammock strung between the trees. You fear the unknown that ALPA will bring, because you do not know this industry. You'll act like you know that ALPA is a bad choice, but how can you know.. your political education is weak at best. Maybe you have involvement in the political arena? If so..what is it?

You are no different that most ALPA members. You view ALPA in terms of what ALPA can do for you..and only you. You are not looking at ALPA as a collective and professional enhancement.

What is happening on the national and international level WILL effect the Skywest pilots. Yet, none of the anti-ALPA types cannot deny this. And ALPA is the only representative on the national and international that represents Air Line Pilots, that includes SKYW pilots. I challenge you to rebuke this....

During the last century the Japanese, an island people, thought they could remain isolated. Sooner or later the rest of the world is going to effect you. Your choice..

It doesn't matter what is said, 120T and the like, will never be happy. If alpa gets in, he will be pissed with the typical poor first contract developed. Then he/she will be pissed that it will be 10 years down the road to get another. There will always be something that pilots like 120T want to be totally pissed about and blame on others so as to take them away from the real problems of their personal lives.

But it comes down to the same for ever pilot at SkyWest, their own one vote.

Either vote for alpa or don't vote at all, simple.

easy.. alpa does not represent me or anyone at SktWest currently.. and im pretty sure they wont.

Man, that was beautiful! It's like reading poetry... we could've used this same paragraph to describe a few of the scumbags in the CAL MEC and N/C during our Contract '02 "negotiations". I know that ALPA isn't perfect and is really only as good as the guys that are in office. You get a bunch of loser management wannabes and company "yes men" in those seats and the rest of the line pilots get absolutely hosed. During our last go around we were left wondering on who's behalf were our union guys negotiating, the pilots or the company? So these guys got theirs from the company, one even took a management job while the rest rarely have to work under the crappy contract they negotiated (gave away). But I digress...

As I said above, ALPA ain't perfect, but it's better than nothing. And, just as a data point, my brother has been at SKW for 13+ years and will be voting for ALPA when the time comes. Not all of the senior guys have been brainwashed.

CFIT, what did SkyWest pilots get in exchange for the bucket system?

CFIT, of the hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars that SkyWest saves each year with PBS, how much of that did SAPA negotiate to be shared with the pilots?

easy.. alpa does not represent me or anyone at SktWest currently.. and im pretty sure they wont.

Sir-

I suggest you get your head out of the sand and off the island. Acutally, no one repsresents you at Skywest. But ALPA in fact does effect your career... you've just chosen duct tape over critical thought and democracy.

When ALPA, on Capitol Hill, influences federal legislation that effects ALL Air Line pilots, you better believe that ALPA represents you. The problem is....you have chosen to...put your head in the sand...

The false consciousness is truely amazing....

false consciousness
–noun
1.a Marxist theory that people are unable to see things, esp. exploitation, oppression, and social relations, as they really are; the hypothesized inability of the human mind to develop a sophisticated awareness of how it is developed and shaped by circumstances.
2.
any belief or view that prevents a person from being able to understand the true nature of a situation.

as an island person you are claiming to know about complex issues on the other side of the world...

Are there FFDO's at SKWY? Thank ALPA.

On line jumpseating after 9/11. Thank ALPA.

Is SKYW immune from BK? the recent push for BK reform to protect airline employees..thank ALPA.

The recent win to obligate the TSA to give airline workers dedicated and seperate airport access..thank ALPA.

Got integrity? Then reject this small sample of ALPA advances and see how you like flying jets..

Got integrity? then apply to only non ALPA, non union carriers for your career.

Explain the SWA factor... SWA makes unions partners in their success. So maybe its more than just ALPA... maybe its your management?

Probably, if the union gets in here it will be the worst place to be anyway.

It will be funny watching all those with ALPA stickers on their flight case peeling them off because management sees them as a target.

Are they going to fire all the ALPA supporters? Sounds like a great place to work.
