Not much but it might help a few....

MEC Alert – January 3, 2006
From: JR Baker, MEC Chairman
To: All AWA Pilots

As you likely know by now, FLYi, Inc, announced that Independence Air
will stop flying this Thursday evening, January 5, due to “continued
financial challenges” facing the company.

With the airline ceasing operations, there will likely be crews who are
stranded, so I’m asking for your help in getting them home.

I spoke with Jeff McClelland, US Airways EVP and Chief Administration
Officer, about opening our doors to help when news of Independence Air
discontinuing operations broke. He agreed, and as of right now, we are
the first airline that has stepped up to the plate in helping our fellow
pilots in their time of need.

If you run across an Independence Air pilot who is trying to get home
once their company shuts down and space allows, please welcome him or
her on board. Let me know if you have any questions or encounter any
difficulties helping these crewmembers get home.

ExpressJet too

Looks like Expressjet will be doing the same thing. Good luck guys, I had a great time jumpseating from IAD to EWR. I also got to know some of you while interning in 2002.

We helped put 'em out of business with our predatory fares, it's the least we can do.

What a class act... I surmise from your plethora of F-18 experience that you probably come from a predominantly military background and got your "737" job because you thought that you deserved it. What an insensitive statement from someone who probably has relatively little experience in the airline world and has never been through the demise of an airline. From someone that has, screw you.

ExpressJet just put out a message for all FlyI guys... You guys are more than welcome in my Jumpseat.

Good Luck to all.
You guys took a risk when facing the down ward pressure of the Mesa's and Shaniquas ... and gave it a good go... I'm sorry it didn't work.

I would say that you all should apply to XJT but with what is going on in our neck of the woods you might get kicked back to the street in a year, if something doesnt change.

from XJT pilot computer interface...

Please extend all courtesies to Independence Air pilots who request the jumpseat after Jan 5th. Please ensure that they comply with the normal jumpseat requirements for non-CASS participants i.e. cabin only seating.

Man, I hope that is sarcasm at yourself, but it sure didn't come out right if it was.

Business is Business, as I recall they rewrote the lowfare war in IAD.... So, help 'em out, get them home if they need it.

Right over your head, I aplogize if you assumed wrong, but maybe you have been in the industry a little too long to recognize it. Sorry you're so bitter. It was slanted toward AAAs golden parachute management who have been known for taking public shots at FlyI.

Jumpseat out of IAD

Since you guys will most likely be trying to get home from IAD............

UAL will allow normal OMC privleges thru Jan. 9th.

Best of luck to you all.
