Exactly. Those type of guys get on here and if you look at their treads all they do is try and put people down. Not exactly the best guys to get advice from. Thanks

XJET is not watching to see what people are posting on here so they can go through HR files and blacklist people...more raging idiots.
I wouldn't bet your paycheck, nor be calling anyone idiots. I know for a fact that HR departments DO look on this board, and they have identified certain posters/applications. I would be very surprised if they are the only one doing this.

Some of the people on this board need to take a pill and relax...

Superpilot92,
To get back to your original question, when I was in your situation I did a few things to build time.
1. Try to fly Angel Flight / Lifeline missions - You pay upfront costs but they are tax deductable.
2. Depending on your monetary status - team up with another CFI and fly actual X/C flights. Out of TX take a few days and fly out to the east or west coast. This will give you good real world flying experience and get you out of the pattern for a while.
3. As far as XJET goes, did you keep in contact with some of the people in the training dept. or chief pilots office. If so I would recommend that you try and reach them to see what the latest info is and see if they can put your name in HRs ear.

I hope this helps
Good Luck

Do what I did. Get on with a night cargo outfit, flying single pilot IFR in whatever gets thrown at you. I thought my instrument skills were pretty good when I took this job. I had no idea.
It isn't the most glamourous job in the world, but you will be a much better pilot.

Is it just me, or has the industry turned upside down?
We spend our time as a CFI teaching flying using the building block method, and then want to skip from a Skyhawk to an ERJ. Doesn't make sense does it?

Must be a UND grad... You didnt happen to intern with the infamous "gear up" class did you? I heard stories... Im an ex UND ATC'er
So... you gonna share with the rest of us here as to the story behind the "gear up class"? Inquiring minds wanna know...

NJA,
any company that has the resources to spend time ferreting out the bad apples by sifting through posts on a message board trying to decrypt whose posts match applications that they may have on their desks.....well, think about how many pilots there are applying for jobs vs. how many post on 1 message board on the internet. That must be the most profitable airline in the biz to afford that kind of effort; I want to work there. Tell me who it is so I can fill out an app. Really.

By the way, do you always use the missionary position, you know, in case someone from HR is watching?

THATS FUNNY! good point. He better watch out they may black ball him for his current position.

I doubt HR is sifting through resumes matching users. However, I do know that HR departments, management personnel, and many others puruse this website and can deduce with fair accuracy who a poster is.

I know there are many people who do not post here (lurkers) but know who I am and read everything I say. It is not very difficult to figure out my identity with a reasonable amount of effort. You are not as "anonymous" as you may believe. That is why when you post, you should have the integrity to stand by what you say.

I'll stand by anything I say on this board. With the exception of anything I might have said on a Tuesday.

Let me assure you of one thing. I'll never figure out who you are. How would I even begin? Now, if I knew you from class, or I've flown with you a few times I may piece it together. That makes sense. So, some kind of relationship would almost certainly have to exist. Agreed? Which leads nicely in to: If someone from a company that I worked for saw a post on a website such as this and didn't like it, you think they'd fire me for it? They'd have a hard time backing that one up, and it would have to be more substantial that me calling some idiot an idiot for being mean to a fellow pilot. We are all free to have our opinions, and there have been(and always will be, I assure you) a lot more questionable things voiced on this website before this. We've got people with avatars of half-naked women on here. Where's the harassment suit from HR?

If this were really an issue do you think guys would choose 'sirhumpalot' as a user name? If guys like this(--flame disclaimer--I'm just using it as an example, I don't mean anything by this humpalot, sir) and "dollacrackho"(--flame disclaimer--which is just one name I picked of several on right this minute, again, there's nothing to this)are not getting offered jobs because of this website then guys like "ifly4food" ought to be getting job offers from every carrier in the free world right now, shouldn't they. Let's ask him. I'll bet it's not the case.

I appreciate all yalls advice. It is fun to jump in the semen hole and go out and do a long IFR X-country somewhere for dinner at hooters or something with a student. We usually run up to addison and hit up the hooters near there.

Ahhhh Impressing the chicks with your big pilot watch, bomber jacket,Rayban sunglasses.......living the dream!!!!!

Its more for the students thrill. Just remember when you were the student going somewhere nice and not showing up in a 1 filthy 2. I enjoy watching the students have fun. Besides when a student is spending over 200 and hour to fly the twin at least make it fun for the guys while they learn.

Superpilot- If you are still waiting on the interview from Express- I was also an intern there and got a call with 550TT/115M... Was called almost immediately for an interview, made in through the techinical portion and got called back for the HR portion. Thought HR went great but didn't get it. Knew both guys interviewing me from the internship. Heard from another on the inside that it was only my low actual instrument time that killed my chances. (only had 8 hours actual when I applied). Can't complain, I would have been lucky as heck to get it then, so I just sighed and kept on instructing- waiting for those IFR days where I actually have instrument students scheduled... --Just wanted to give you a heads up. I know they've been having problems with people not making it through training due to lack of basic instrument skills. Good luck.

Yeah that stinks man. There were a lot of guys getting caught with not enough actual time. I usually call up some of my Instrument students on the cloudy days so one i get actual time and two i think that that is so much more benaficial to the student learning than wearing the hood all the time. My instrument intstuctor did the same thing with me and i loved it when i was a student. Not much better for a student than doing things right and popping out of the clouds and having the runway dead ahead. Any way i am sitting at around 60 hours actual. I try and maximize all my flight time while instructing for myself and my students. Have you reapplied? Sorry to hear that man!! THey are supposed to start calling people agian in Jan.

Regional Job Search

I can see people giving you a hard time here and it's a shame that people are so brutal on this message board.
I just got done doing the whole job search thing and it's alot of work to get the resume's out and prepare for the actual interview. Even though you want to work for Express Jet, I honestly wouldn't stick all your eggs in one basket. I applied to American Eagle with like 1050 total and 110 Multi and got an interview, unfortunately they didn't like me too much for some reason?? Then I started applying everywhere and got lucky with being able to find a guy who wanted to fly alot of time in his Seneca and built alot more M.E.time. Finally I interviewed at Pinnacle and they gave me the job. But my point is, that if you want to go regional, I wouldn't count on one individual company. I really wanted to work for American Eagle "just because" and when I didn't get the job I was really down on myself.
The good thing is that you're actively flying, but honestly to be competetive you need at least 1200 hrs. total flight time. I think I was the lowest time guy at my interview session with Pinnacle. Actually there was one other guy who had about the same time, but most of the guys were prior 135 guys with 2500+ hrs. If you get on with Express Jet with you time, then that's cool, but I would hate to see you not get the job and tear yourself up over it. Apply with Express jet, but shoot and work hard towards building over 1,000 hrs total time, then check out Mesa, SkyWest and Mesaba. All 3 of those companies mins are at 1,000 total and 100 M.E. I'm sure there are other ones out there that have low mins like that. Maybe Chataqua?? Not sure. Apply everywhere!! My friend who flies for one of the regionals once told me that one day they hire guys with blonde hair and the next day they hire guys with brown, and it almost seems true because there were some folks in that American Eagle interview that should not have made it through the rest of the day. I'm sorry but if you can't look at an IAP and explain which hold pattern you'll do on the missed the you don't deserve a job!!! Goodluck......

With a name like super pilot, 750 hours of time and comments like above, maybe generaltso isn't too far off. Consider yourself lucky if you get the XJet call, but as for the rest of the industry plan on 1200/200 as a MINIMUM. I would set that as your goal instead of trying to angle for a lucky break at a 121 carrier. Not that I would have passed up ANY call when I had 750, the point is, carriers have minimums for a reason. At 750 hours, yes you're capable in a single, maybe a small twin, but jets with 50 passengers are a whole new deal. Get more multi, get some jet time, keep working and it will happen. Everyone else in this forum was just as anxious as you at 750, you just have to keep flying, that's the only real answer.

Hahahha give me a break. So 15.680 hours makes a good pilot right? bs!
