UNITED DAILY said:Flight attendant to join Known Crewmember program
On Monday the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), in cooperation with Airlines for America, announced that, in the second phase of the Known Crewmember (KCM) program, the TSA will offer expedited security screening to flight attendants of U.S.-based airlines.
“We’re very pleased that our flight attendants will be eligible to participate and receive the benefits of the Known Crewmember program,” said Inflight Services SVP Sam Risoli.
TSA projects that flight attendants could begin to experience expedited screening as early as fall 2012, but it could take up to 12 months for airlines and their service providers to make system modifications and fully develop, test and implement this change to the program.
The KCM test program launched in April 2011 and enables TSA officers to verify the identity and employment status of airline pilots, who already undergo thorough criminal background and employment checks as a condition of their employment. KCM allows crewmembers to get through security screening faster.
Cant think of a better way to hasten the loss of the KCM program for all of us.....nice while it lasted
If they want to include FAs they better up the manning at those checkpoints. It already takes a little longer to get through than just going to the front of the regular security line. An entire crew trying to get through KCM will take a lot longer! Now imagine that at a crew base with multiple crews at one time.
Definitely oppose FA's being in this program.
