FedEx Walkin

Anyone know how long it is taking to get a call after you and your sponsor meet with the chief pilots?

The average have bben a few months....8-12 weeks.....some are quick, but for the most part thats how long it took....

Shhhhhwooooo........thanks for the info. For a while there I thought I was going to have to go out and buy another bottle of Jack. On second thought....I think I'll do it anyway. I'm rolling in at about 9 weeks without word, so I'm thinkin maybe two bottles would be more appropriate..... just in case. Also, since I don't really have a plan "Z" yet, is there any time restriction on how soon you can be walked back in? Can you be sponsored by the same person, or do you have to hire a new one?

Might want to grow tits and make sure your furloughed too, that seems to be the profile their looking for now a days....

Yeh, a new hire with "tits" just skipped the whole FE slot in the 727 and went straight to FO...

If I could have done that I would have never left my room as a kid. I quess I'll just have to fall back on my original career plan of total world domination. Yaaaazzz......that's right........world domination...... I'm going to create a world where tanks are easier to rent, close door buttons on elevators respond so fast they could cause injury, and death row gladiator championships are held every friday night.........yup.....I can see it all now.

FNG:

So, reading your post, did your interview last month not go too well? Or did you start in July? 29 newbies started in July, and only one had tits. I went back over the last year+ since we picked up hiring again. We hired 445 pilots- 18 had tits. That's 4%. In my class back in 2002 there were none.

And Tram: If there are seat openings other than the s/o 727, they are bid by seniority, not tit size.

And for everyone else, we do have a few guys with Man-boobs that got hired, so don't think that rules you all out.

Ok, I was just told a new hire got FO on the 727, which I thought was a rarity for a newhire..

Where are you based out of? MEM?

LOL...man I'm just throwing spears....everybody asking the same questions over and over....gets boring, so I was bored and needed to kick it up a notch...I'm not an employee....

FNG

You had mentioned in June you had a Fedex intervew. How did it go? I thought maybe they passed you over, and you were just relieving some tension. Or was having an interview throwing spears, too? Just wondering, since people here will help out with questions, logistics, and interview prep.

PS Tram, I am on the Md-11 in MEM

Ya know I am going to be really unprofessional here.....

Go screw yourself tool!

You idiots that say this $hit make me want to vomit. Awwww, poor baby boy, has to make an excuse for his own inadequacy on why the job he or his guy friend didn't get a call. You make me sick. You don't even know WTF you are talking about.

Hey if ya ain't MIL what is the going rate to get sponsered? I need to know so I can start save my pennies. But Seriously FedEx dudes do they like people with a predominate freight background or the regional jet type?

Just from my own experience, it doesn't matter what your background is......freight or feeder. Anyway, I didn't get the impression from the chief pilot that military experience was of any value when it came to sponsors. Both my sponsor and I are civilian. I think the most important aspect of a sponsor is that he/she will risk their reputation on your performance. Don't just have a friend of a friend try to walk you in, make sure it's someone that knows you really well.

me thinks she does protest to much.
Question: Does anyone know what PERCENTAGE of female applicants get hired versus the PERCENTAGE of male applicants? The answer to that question would point out any bias that exist towards chick pilots.

Me thinks if guys would use their energy on networking and studying their ass off like I did to get a job instead of bitching about the 2 or 3 females that get hired here and there, you wouldn't have to worry about it because you would have a job and wouldn't need to whine about it.

Studying and networking??? Im sure that is the ONLY reason you got your job flying boxes. It couldn't possibly had anything thing to do with your OTHER assets. NO even a little bit??? Yea, I know, you worked hard, deserved all the breaks you've got...blah..blah...blah...

Congrats on the new job,

Johnny

Do me a favor.....can you tell me what would make me worthy of a pilot job at a major? I am really interested to know. I know plenty of men that got great pilot jobs with less "experience" than myself. Did they put on a fake set of tits or something?

I really enjoy going to work and wondering if every guy is thinking the same thing you do. It really makes life enjoyable. You are right though, I protest too much. I will never be able to change someone's ignorance. Thanks for making me think about all this and decide that next time someone makes another stupid "all you need to do is have tits" post, I am just going to ignore it. You are not worth my time.

FWIW,
My Fedex new hire class of 13 had no "tits" in it (not counting a few "man tits" I think I saw - not that I was looking). The previous class had one woman. I think you're barking up the wrong tree. (Especially since you're not on the property and can't speak from personal experience about who's in the new hire classes). Fedex has 12,000 apps from fully qualified pilots on file right now. If you're hired, you're very fortunate and probably very qualified. period.

How backed-up are they in the interviewing process right now.....anyone know real timelines? I'm in the same boat as TinGoose, 9 weeks with no word after a walk-in. If anyone has real information to share, please do so. Thanks....

This info is current from this spring. Mine was about 9 weeks - ACP interview to call for real interview. 1 month from call to interview. 2 weeks from interview to job offer. Don't give up yet.

Bottom Line: expect 3 months.

Two months ago I walk a buddy's resume in and talked to the ACP. He said it would take about that long for him to hear anything.

They have a system that starts with the walk-in. The file gets a green sticker and the online application is reviewed and recommendations are made as to where to improve or expound on certain items.

With the green sticker the file joins "the Stack." It is from here that the board pulls a certain number of files for review. This board tries to meet every other week for a couple hours. The answers your sponsor provided on the sponsor sheet are reviewed and then HIS record at FedEx is checked. (Hope your sponsor is not a dirtbag)

Assuming your file/app passes the board, you are then carried over to Pilot HR. KD will call asking your availability. You then are on your own. You have all the rope you need to get in. Try not to hang yourself in the process.

Recently the ACP asked that sponsors NOT check on the status of their bud's file. Apparently this had been happening and a few guys turned into too many for them to get anything else done.
