it is empire. they have been doing that run for many years. i am sure that non of them are allowed to talked about the crash until after the investigation per company rules. the atr is not that bad in ice and freezing mist never brought down any plane on approach. maybe the gear collapsed or something. soon we will all know. i know that the pic had a lot of time in that aircraft and is a very good pilot. i am sure it was not pilots error. glad everyone walked away unhurt.

Agreed. This particular captain knows what he's doing.

Howzit going worm?

I just found out about this. What a bummer. The Captain is aces and has spent years hammering it out in SE Alaska. Don't know anything about the F/O, but I hope them all the best with all they have and will go through during this ordeal.

I also agree, the Captain is one of the most experienced guys in the company and a good friend to boot.
It just reminds you how fragile our careers are and something like this can happen to anyone at anytime, no matter how much experience you have.

If icing is a factor, the ATR is definitely not the top choice of turboprop. Give me a Dash, Saab or Fokker...

I doubt the gear had anything to do with this. They were on approach to 17R and the aircraft is down a few hundred feet north of the 17R approach lights.

"The investigation". That is the worst part. Dealing with the NTSB and Empire Management. I am glad they walked away, but the next few days are going to be hell. Hope they did everything "by the book", cause they will look at everything possible to blame the crew.

Anybody knows the weather reports at the time they landed?
