There is also a likelihood that as of Day 1 of an air war, the sky will be saturated with US aircraft from all sides. As much as we might deconflict in an ATO or all be linked up, basic intercept and VID skillz will need to be maintained.

That said, getting to a merge undetected and/or alive against a 4th gen threat with HMS/AA-11 is the TOUGHEST thing we can be asked to do (in my humble opinion). When I get there, it'd be nice to have a HMCS/AIM-9X combo. Or in a Raptor going high to low from 60K.

Magnum - are you saying my VLO skillz are lacking? Sealteam vs. BJJ - round one.

Sig it's a combo of all of those things along with the results of using kill regen. However, in the debrief there is / was usually a way to have targeted / killed the guy or guys who got in. Our usual training consists of 4v6 or above highly desired. Kill regen comes into effect past tac int's and usually is set to ramp up over the vul duration. The more realistic the training the more "true" the learning will be.
One must also define what "got in" really is. We practice BFM to understand close range employment and maneuvering. We practice ACM (USAF version of CapNTap) from both perch and BVR with the goal of no untargeted entries. We practice short range intrcp's with the goal of killing them BVR but with plans for VID.

Anybody with more detail on the F picture PM me. By helmet emblems I likely flew with one of them.
