A few things about the interview...

I have read about the people here saying that the interviewers want to see how well you follow directions, so my plan is to show up with only what they asked for in the email. Maybe a death sentence, but hey, i follow directions well. Ok so maybe i will have the other stuff on me, but i will not volunteer it.

Second, as far as the bill for the interview goes;

1. same suit i have had for 4 years now...I refuse to purchase a new one.
2. Expedited passport...nah, too much money. I will make a copy of my application for the passport at the regular cost.
3. FCC RROP... well, i did spring for that.

$$

I agree with the above, if they ask, or seem interested in letters of recommendation, out they'll come, but until then, nothing.

As for money, let's see;
Blue "Interview" Sport Coat - Had for 6 year=0$
Tan Pants - Had for about 3 years=0$
Same yellow "Power Tie" - Had for 5 years=0$
Passport - Former employer expedited(and never used)=0$
FCC License - purchased for my 9/11 interview=$50/~2 years ago
New white dress shirt to replace the beer stained/hurricane ridden one I used for Halloween this year=~$35

So I guess about $35, I don't go overboard with these things, a well kept suit........and midsection.........will last you forever.

New suit: $300

FCC license and Expedited passport: $200

Beating those who got off cheaper than you with a stick: Priceless

:D

My two cents worth: leave the tan pants and sports coat at home and invest in a formal business suit. Everyone that got hired with my class had one and those we saw interviewing today had them.

Don't think of it as a waste of money, either. You may have a funeral to attend some day or a fancy wedding and you'll look extra sharp.

Good luck.

Did not know that fitz thanks.
Well I hope things went well for the guys today. Hopefully will see some stuff on how the process is being done.

Just heard from Dawn today about the need for the FCC RROP and the Passport for the interview.

Copies of your application for both are sufficient for the interview process. So you do not need to go out and spend the extra money trying to get the passport expedited back to you in time for the interview. This will save some of us some money, for those of you who already paid the extra cash... well maybe you can fly a few extra hours your first couple of months to make that money back:p

Driving Directions

Any one planning to drive down for the interview intead of flying because you live in Houston? My interview is on 12th and I was supposed to get driving directions from ExpressJet via e-mail. I did not receive the e-mail yet. Can anyone share that info. if you have it? Thank you.

How many interviewed today sluffpuppy? Any info on the process? Is there really no sim eval?

Thanks

I saw four guys in for the interview today. They had them here quite a while - I'd say almost all day. Sorry, but no intel on the process other than there was no sim ride. I did see one of the guys in an interview room with an HR manager and two other people I didn't recognize... a 3 on 1 thing. I know this doesn't help you guys a lot, but it's all I have.

One other thing - these four guys looked like they could fit in here really well - no obvious attitudes or any of that crap. They looked very professional in appearance and seemed like guys I'd like to fly with.

Good luck.

Thanks Sluff,
Sounds like its gonna be pretty straight forward. Looking forward to Monday. Hopefully all will go well and will be flying airplanes soon instead of teaching them.

Propdog...

I too am on the 12th and will drive across town to the interview.

The directions i have are as follows:
-For complimentary parking, you will need to arrive at the Continental Express Training Center on FEB(fill in date) no later than 8:45 am
-The address is 17445 JFK Blvd.
-When you arrive at the Training Center use the phone in the lobby to page 877-473-6469, choose option 1, input 3333
-A recruiter will come up and escort you to the conference room.

Now i just wish i could get them to fly me from Hobby to IAH.... that would be cool :p  :D

Future SNA,

Blue "Interview" Sport Jacket?
Tan pants???

Just think, the Cokes and ham sandwich on the flight home after you fail landing the job are also free! Oh boy!

Just giving you a hard time. Seriously, they pick up on that kind of stuff. If everybody else in the group went out of the way to get a suit, and you didn't, it tells the interviewers that you don't want the job as bad as the others. It may seem petty, but that's the way it is.

Back in the day, you could expect 3-4 out of 15 in the interview to actually get hired. Cover all your bases. Good luck!

p.s. After you get hired, that $300 you paid for your suit will be chump change! You'll be rollin in the dough!! Ha Ha
