I don't think it's the airplane that's drawing the attention so much as the price. If you came here talking about a 20K/month contract gig in the Legacy, you most likely wouldn't have received the response that you did.

I'm just some dumb pilot of a 6 seat piston twin. The real corporate pilots on this board have several times the experience, flying equipment I could only dream about. But if my guys wanted me to spend a month flying them around in the 340, it'd cost them about 10K (assuming I'm on standby to fly the entire month) for my services plus expenses. So if I'm sitting here thinking 5K is pretty d@mned low, you can only imagine how the other pilots feel about it.

Maybe I don't have a dog in this fight, but that's the way I see it.

Legacy driver is not far off the mark, in quoting rates etc. However there are several legacy drivers in Europe, and a quick post to Pprune.com will confirmt he situation.
I was based in Moscow for 5 years with G4 and CL601. Great fun, great people, and a really great experience. It would be worth it for almost any money.
Remember a VISA is needed, these take time, and a sponsorship letter. Moscow is getting cold and when the snow starts a legacy need to be hangered. Might be a problem.
As to generalisations of coffee shops. I agree in UK we are about double the equivalent US prices, and in Moscow the coffee shops are just as good. The Coffee Bean next to the Marriott is as good if not better than "S".
An instructor pilot should get on a daily basis 800-1000US, but for a one month or similar expect no more than 10,000US per month.
A 100US perdiem should be discussed, with the company paying hotel, breakfast and laundry.
Take heavy cold weather kit with you.
I am a now only a Gulfstream G4/G550 driver, and would kill to get back to Moscow, the people are the best, and the girls to die for....end of lecture. Any more info, E Mail me at [email protected]

IRAILOT, what a load of tosh.....I was foot loose in Moscow for 5 years...very few problems. Much less than most "other" countries/cities.

Bumz.

I like Moscow, too. When there we stay at the Metropol because it's convenient to Red Square and the Bolshoi, but we base our operations out of Night Flight on Tverskaia Street. Ever been there?

GV

As I said to LegacyDriver in my PM to him - Moscow, not a problem. Many other places in Russia are not ok now - you know, the 2 airliners bombed out of the sky, the attack on the school in Beslan, the Jihad moving north and some political unrest regarding Putin, civil rights and the oil industry. Not knowing exactly where in Russia (big country, having spent time in other parts, far flung from the more "western" Moscow) I was advising some caution. Things have changed, my friend.

Cheers

there are some babes with serious money hanging out at night flight!

ever try the Kempinski across the river? not bad digs....heck its pure entertainment just to check out the working gals in the lobby bar!!

I like Moscow too, neat city. Winter gets real old real quick though...

I still get a kick out of all the wedding clebrations going on at red square area each saturday....middle of winter, -20 degrees and newlyweds and thier parties walking around in wedding clothes drinking cans of beer...only the ruskies..

I've not had the opportunity to visit Night Flight. But our other pilots and a notable visit by our mechanic...

Can't wait.TC

Moscow Operations Centre

On the Upper level, get by far the best view, and afternoon tea is well worth waiting for.
Normally stay over the road, in Marriott. Metropole might be near the the culture, but mostly small rooms, beautiful, but small.

Now Hungry Duck had by far the best Operations Room, 9-10pm, being briefing time......

LegacyDriver--give it up, man, your airplane just isn't gonna get ANY respect on this board... :D :D :D

You're right about that, but I try. I LOVE FLYING THIS AIRPLANE. Not the biggest, not the fastest, and not the longest-legged, but a mighty fine gal all the same.

Listen to him LegacyDriver, he's right. Now normally, nobody here would listen to a guy AA717, but he's redeemed himself by flying a real corporate airplane, not a pretend one, to make up for all that airliner-junk he was slumming in before.

heh heh

I finally figured it out....the only thing that can possibly explain the seemingly inexplicable; your absurd and freakily weird Legacy obsession......

LegacyDriver, YOU LOST YOU'RE JET-VIRGINITY TO HER, DIDN'T YOU!

(sigh)

C'mere son, it's time for a little talk. Now ok, shes a fine gal and all..um..real nice, but.......

My god, I hope you guys are not serious with all this Legacy bashing. You do realize that it's not the pilots that choose the airplanes, right? Ok, so it doesn't have the performance or range of a G-IV, but if Joe Executive or Susie Richgal wants to go from HPN to VNY (just as an example), I can certainly see their logic in choosing 'the same airplane' (from a pax standpoint) for half the price.

(I'm trying to resist..trying to resist...trying to...Aaaaaahhhhgggg!)

HPN to VNY? for half price of a Gstream?....well, that sounds like a price and a job for a Challenger in the case of Mr. Joe Exec (because the name sounds...you know...hard-charging, so he'd like that), and for Suzie Richgirl, a Falcon is the obvious choice due to it's superior sex appeal.

But why stop there with the intangibles?...Lets move onto something concrete! Unlike the Legacy (and zeroing in on your aforementioned "pax standpoint"), the Falcon and Challenger have stand-up cabins...and gosh, don't you think that those who don't happen to be Oompa-Loompas just might want or perhaps even expect that for 20+ million $$$s??? That's a literal "pax standpoint", for you.

Furthermore, they both put the Rio Rocket to shame in the arena of performance and do it at lower DOC's, which not only means Mr. Joe Exec can do whatever it is the he11 he does more effeciently, but additionally and much more importantly, enables Ms. Suzie Richgirl to pour increased amounts of disposable income into the high-maintenance lifstyle she leads that allows..nay, REQUIRES..her to keep up with the latest offerings from the likes of Versace and Dior that will hopefully soon cycle back as it always does in the World of Fashion to really, really short dresses and other revealing garments thus keeping flightcrew morale, enjoyment, and job satisfaction when she's onboard at it's highest possible level!!! Now WTF more do you want!!!!!

But I digress, because this has been covered on another thread. My heartfelt and sincere apologies to those who had to endure it a second time.

(whew. okay, I'm better now)
