Ok, so I know its 9 years now. I have heard from many people that it should drop to 4 or 5 years, and we were told in a company overview that it is foreseen to drop to 3. What do you all think?

I think the chicks in your avatar are hot.

I think its running about 8 for the jet and 7 for a prop currently. Yea it will probably drop a bit, im thinking around 4-5 yrs. If more a/c were ordered, plus a mass exodus of senior CAs, then it might drop to 3. I doubt we will see new a/c until APA hammers out a new contract in a few years, and then Eagle will have to hammer out a contract about that time also. Mgmt is trying to think up a way to get our Senior CAs to move on to other jobs, but nothing specific has been outlined yet.

And yes, the Jailbait in your avatar is great. I swear ossifer, she said she was 18!

So it is still just a speculation at this point?

Because you have 16 year captains that can't hold weekends off. I don't think anyone outside of Eagle has any concept of exactly how senior our pilots are.

With that said, I agree that it will fall to 4-5 year upgrades for newhires. QOL is good here once you hold a line and reserve times have dropped to around 6 months give or take. You can now choose your base prior to signing up and ,there is no training contract if you choose to leave early. We stay at upscale-ish hotels and people are good.

Compared to all other regionals, I'd choose maybe Skywest or Republic for the fast upgrades, but those could end quickly if anything happens at ASA/Delta/etc. Eagle is like a savings bond, you're not gaining as fast as some stocks, but you're not risking as much either.

Good comparison. Anyway, it's good to mention that our latest Captain vacancy bid was 45. A number well above the ones we were used to seeing, thanks to the AA guys starting to go back to the mother ship. A good sign that things are moving forward.

THe upgrade will drop, but down to 3 years.... well that's pushing it... Figure if you get hired today, you will be about 1400 numbers away from an upgrade... figure all the flowbacks leave, all the flowthroughs go as well (good luck) and you are still sitting 4-500 numbers away from upgrading.... having said that, I don't think Eagle is as bad a place as many make it out to be.... Especially if you live in base, you can make livable coin.... Overall a great company.

Yeah, 3 is a pipe dream IMO. Look for Early '04 hires to upgrade late '08, then maybe as low as 4 years for a short while before heading back up. If you're coming to Eagle get here now and you'll at least have a good QOL fairly quickly albeit in the right seat.

Of course this is all pure speculation. Too many variables in play to really predict with much accuracy.

crystal meth or ball? U decide!

I was a 97 new hire. Nine year upgrades at the time, but huge training bubble coming. I held CA Aug 99 and have been there ever since....SF3 and EMB. And yes I left another regional to come to Eagle. Does it happen? Did to me. Will it again?, Yes. When?.....

A CFI I know is looking to get on with AE depending on base and equipment. He's got around 800/100 but would like to remain in the New York area. How hard would it be for him to get the ERJ out of JFK and how long would reserve be there?

With the new program in place, your friend should be able to get new york right off the bat. New Hires can choose thier base before coming to training. I have no idea how it works and I have no idea how long reserve is on the EMJ in LGA. The company has been hiring a lot into the EMJ. It is our larges type by fleet size so there are many opportunities to move around through the system. I think lga flys the 135 predominately, but some one please correct me if i am wrong. Good time to get in with the company.

This person is also a student who plans to graduate in the summer. What are AE's projected hiring at that point? Are they currently filling classes and will they still come the summer/fall?

I graduate college in may, and they hired me ...still waiting on a class date, but they said they are gonna hire over 700 this year. I dont think your friend will have a problem.

They are going to hire a lot this year, I have heard they want 700,we will see how many they get. They will let you pick where you want to be based, so that shouldnt be an issue anymore as a newhire. Apply early and get your seniority #!

You will not actually get your senority number till your first day of class.

Nice avatar!

Does anyone know if eagle will go under the 100hr ME time requirement now that they're "desperate". I really want to work for eagle, I have 1200TT but only 20 ME time with a MEI. I graduate in may and I'm thinking I'll have to drop $9k on a 100ME block at ari-ben (which I really dont want to do). Is it possible to talk to a recruiter and work something out where I can interview as soon as I get xx hrs of ME time? If they'd take me at 70 hrs I'd only have to buy a 50 hr block (I dont have an option to instruct in a twin right now).

BcPilot99,

They said they hired you even though you havent graduated yet....how'd that work?

Also, how much will getting on with eagle at the middle to end of this hiring boom set my upgrade time back? It's fustrating knowing I have to wait, but does anyone see a two month delay now turning into a 2 year delay later?

You need to get more multi b/c they will not go any lower as far as I know. I have 1200TT and 200 multi and I was the lower amt. of multi time of anyone who interviewed. The graduation thing is not a big deal, they just give you a class date after your graduation. We walk April 28 and she said that I will get a mid may class

Seriously? Go out and get some quality multi time before you apply. Teach some students then go fly some 135 freight single pilot and gain some experience. You will gain more than buying block time and cruising around VFR at 4500'.

Seriously? Get the multi time as quickly as possible and get the first possible seniority number. Split a twin with another pilot; often its cheaper than a Skyhawk that way. Fly across the country and visit some new places. Go into fun (busy) airports. Get some good instrument XC experience that will build your confidence as much as your logbook. You'll gain more from that (ie getting hired sooner) than spending another 6-12 months instructing or flying 135.

With the way everyone is hiring I wold not reccommend that you do this, get in as soon as possible and get your number early.

"Fun airports"? Wow.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! WTF are you smoking? The skill level between a 121 new hire that has only 6-18 months of freight under his belt and a CFI is uncomparable. I've already lost count of how many captains have told me how piss-poor new hire SJS CFI's are.

"Fun airports"? Wow.

Yeah, when you are in the process of building time, going into busy airports is "fun".

I thought going into MDW on my long commercial XC in a 172 was "fun". Landing in IND in a Seneca during the FedEx bank was "fun". I thought landing at ORD the first time in a Beechjet was "fun". I think doing the Harbor Visual at PWM or the River Visual at DCA or the Expressway Visual at LGA is "fun".

"Fun" does not equal "unsafe" or "unprofessional" or "in everybody's way".

God forbid people enjoy the flying they do...

That's not the issue...getting a seniority number quickly is.

I wouldn't trade my year of flying freight for another year of seniority ever.

But I'm sure when you're 65 and thinking back over your career you'll have fond memories of the experiences you had during your 90 days at the pilot academy, your 30 days paying for an rj type, your 100 hours of VFR crew time in a Duchess, and your subsequent 40,000 hours of flying the mighty CRJ. Good for you, your retired #1 at a regional.

You seem to think your year of flying freight will somehow get you out of a regional faster than the guy that was hired a year before you and got his 1000 TPIC at least that much ahead of you. How do you figure that?

I'm glad you're satisfied with your career progression to this point; what I don't understand is your need to knock somebody that didn't do it your way.
