Someone was telling me that they were poking around on the FAA website, and something like only 500 or 5000 ( I can't remember which) commercial pilot certificates were issued last year. duh dun duh.

There's no information here on the breakdown on of issuances to Americans vs. to foreign nationals training in the USA and receiving their ratings from the FAA.

My guess is that most of these issuances were to Chinese and Indians.
