That's pretty funny, but I'm guilty of far worse.

My instructor and I were practicing a little instrument work, and for the first time I got to wear the "foggles". He told me to make a turn to the left or something, and I swear, I turned my head to look for traffic with the foggles on!!! Real smooth.....
 
The dumbest- actaully getting in one!!!:beer: It set the stage for my two furloughs, $hitty pay, and an even beter quality of life!!!! Gotta love it!!!!

You mean dumb things like being a 21 y/o kid flying under power lines, down slot canyons, 5' off the ground chasing antelope, or flying so low over in-law's houses that you think you might have pulled off shingles dumb?
 
Mine might have been yesterday. Me and my CFI went dive bombing on a farmer on his tractor. Sneaked up from behind and went right over his head. Probably 50 feet. Probably gave the poor guy a heart attack. We were just practicing engine outs! ;)
 
Probably just some LOW-level flying! I had a buddy who did loops, in a 172, under class C airspace to "star" in a video!!!! :erm:
 
I was a student pilot, and I had forgotten or somehow never learned that CTAF at an uncontrolled field with an FSS on the field was always 123.6. I saw that UNICOM was 122.8, and so I figured that CTAF was the same. I took off on an intersecting runway, announcing all the while on 122.8, and nearly took out a Metroliner departing on the crossing runway (I was using the runway that the winds were favoring, they were using the longest available.) I was lucky that I didn't die or take out a bunch of innocent people with that stunt, and it took me a good 3 months to want to go near another airplane again. But I overcame my fears, finished up my Private, and progressed to where I am now. In a way, I'm glad that something like that happened to me--it's made me a lot more cautious and methodical throughout my flying career than I would have been otherwise.

But suffice to say, that was pretty dumb.

Trying to pee in a bottle that is too small and when there were a few bumps. I should have just gone in my pants to begin with! It would have been easier seeing what my end result was!

Hmmm...Like launchpad said, you beat me to it. Sort of.

I was going to say "Getting paid $8/hr to fly one". :)

One lightning strike later, I still get a tingle in my hip when the weather changes.
 
relieved my bowls and then looked for the TP and there was none....
 
Taking a laxitive from my captain....

I am like how long does this take to work? He said...oh about three or four hours....

About 30 minutes later...I was proving him oh so very wrong:(
 
I don't think that most pilots know how many stupid things they've done in an airplane until they get more experience and realize how close they were to death at times. Maybe I just say that because I learned to fly at a very young age or maybe because my flight instructors never instilled good flight discipline in me.

For newer pilots--- Never lose your flight discipline, know your own limits, set your own minimums (never break them) and never let anyone pressure you into anything you don't feel comfortable doing. Did I mention FLIGHT DISCIPLINE.....???

Man you weren't nearly close enough to scare him. Most of those guys have been buzzed so many times by us that they don't even notice unless you get "real" close. Caught a friend of mine out one day and snuck up on him. Dove in over him at radio antenna height and covered him with smoke. Pulled up vertical and looked back through the turn windows to see that he was stopped after plowing up about 20 ft of cotton. Laughed all the way home.
 
I was 4000' at left 7 on a KAL 737 in Korea trying to get a valid heater tone. Not so much of a heat signature on a Boeing. Made EVERY call on Airedale (common UHF freq), and had one helluva pissed off DO waiting for me when I landed. Got a C/S outta that one that stuck forever. Good times....
 
I also flew an "in-trail" ILS with an E-3 into Tinker when the weather was 700-2. It was the ONLY patch of weather in the entire midwest, and I was doing a gas n go to Hill single ship. Got to the jet and realized my High book for OK was missing. Thought, what the hell, it's VFR and I won't need it. Called Barksdale metro enroute and immediately thought "S***." Throttled back and got to OK city approach and told 'em I needed to hold out east for a minute. Finally saw an E-3 out there and asked 'em "hey, is that E-3 on final for 17?" "Yup." "Okay, I'm ready and I'll follow him in!"

Now, I'd been to Tinker many, many times in the past. Didn't have the gas to go to Altus or anywhere else. I felt safe, but it was dumb. Worked out like a champ, though. On Albie's advice, I didn't share that story in my Fedex interview!

Just what I was thinking, why post it here, keep them to yourselves. It may come back and haunt you in the future...
 
Flew through two lines of +TS spanning Mexico - Canada. Got my a$$ kicked......Been a while since I had seen the women so I had to go through it. Dead leg.......anyways. An unnamed approach control, "um, approach, you still there, its pretty quiet?" "yeah, we are here, your the only dumb a$$ that flew through that. Even the line guy at the airport was shaking his head when I landed.

Yep. Salt Lake Center did the same thing to me one morning a year ago.

Cruising along in the Bonanza and I could see we'd be skimming through the tops of a residual thunderstorm from the night before.

SLC said nothing ominous ahead and 50 miles beyond that was clear, VFR....

10 min. into it, we were getting our teeth shaken out of our mouths, rain hitting the windshield so hard, it drowned out the engine noise.

Thankfully, he was accomodating in giving us an immediate 180, lest I declare an emergency and ruin his whole morning.


I fly with an Avidyne EX500, with satellite wx now and make up my own mind....well worth the $600/year, even if it is for once or twice a year.
 
Pushed forward on the stick just a little too much in the top of an aileron roll in a T-6. I will NEVER do that again.

OH Yeah, I almost forgot. I damn near went to work for a commuter airline once.

Now that was scary!!!!
