With the new DTW base coming online for ASA in about 6 weeks, our Mgmt. is now requiring future DTW based crew members to obtain a DTW SIDA badge before June 1. When are we suppose to do this? Day off? Great, but pay! I'm not wasting two (of my already very little) days off to fly to DTW.

Am I missing something in the memo, or is this what they really expect us to do? I understand they will positive space us from one of our current domiciles, but when are we suppose to do this?

Also, from what I have heard, you really don't need a SIDA up there, unless it has changed. You don't need it for jetways, doors, security, etc. It's only good if you park in the parking lot. Has this changed at all or is it still worthless?

Was the same way with DFW, SLC and LAX, don't worry though, you'll have plenty of time sitting around in DTW with some of those 3+ hour sits.

Why the F is the big deal? Even in ATL you need to get the SIDA on your own time. It's only been like 25+ years of this. Cry me a river!

Because they are making us go up to DTW before the base even opens on 2 different OFF days to do it. I say since the company wants us to travel up there for company business then it is deadhead and I will be claiming it on RainMaker. Grievance will follow the denial of my claim.

Doesn't ASA have a company message board where you can ask these stupid fu##ING questions??? I'm getting sick of all these lame ASA threads!!!

You knowingly clicked on an ASA thread, dooshbaggg. What did you expect to find here?

Like I said, my time off is valuable to me, and I am not wasting two of those days to travel to DTW to get a worthless SIDA badge before the base is even open. You would be b!tching too if you had to do it.

Don't click on the thread then. Simple as that.

No. You should start one. Most of you think you know how to run an airline but can't figure out how to start a web site?

This is an aviation message board, right?

Just talked with C.B. in the CP office. You need to pass the SIDI quiz on the first try or you must wait 24 hours to take it again.
I'll be the guy sleeping in the new crew room with no furniture waiting to take it again. Oh but wait, you need your SIDI to gain access.

Do you by any chance wear velco shoes?

Seems about half or more OH don't have the SIDA, & we've been there since Sep. Mainly just the folks who drive. I've half-a$$ed tried to get one during a sit, but with the SIDA folks on gov't hours, and the fact you have to round-trip it to the North Terminal, I've been unsuccessful and haven't sweated it.

OH ops didn't require a Badge to access, so there really wasn't a need. I drove and never got one.

I wouldn't rely on other people to escort me to ops. What if no one from your company is around. I'm not escorting another companies employee, too much risk for the Tsa to hammer me.

Or you could just not get one, it's possible to exist at DTW without a SIDA but it's a pain. Well, I should say that it's a pain for everyone you constantly bug to swipe you through doors you'll want to go through.

Sounds just about right, a whiny pilot inconveniences those around him rather than get off his lazy ass and go get his own badge. You'll fit right in.

It's all good. They decided to extended the deadline for us to get the SIDA badge until July, so now we can get it while we are actually based there and can do it during a long sit or before/after a trip without having to actually fly up there twice during a day off.

I guess a lot of you would have just done it now on your days off without compensation, just like everything else in this inudstry. That's why it'll never change.
