wish we could do something like that here at big LUV regarding our crappy TA...maybe wearing and ipod and wearing a backpack walking throught the terminal showing what our passengers will see if we codeshare. Good Job Tranny keep it up

Codeshare? I have already seen some of your pilots like that.

That is precisely what it is. From the NPA's email, emphasis mine:

"If you see a fellow NPA member wearing his or her hat, politely remind them of this unity event, and explain the importance of union solidarity."

I hope it works. It would have been more effective if we had all been wearing our hats to begin with.

Haven't you guys been without a TA for like 5 years?? Is this the best you can come up with??

Given your publicly stated surrender on the SWAPA TA, you shouldn't be throwing stones. At least the AirTran pilots had the sack to vote down a $hitty TA in 2006... and have the hostages to show for it.

Wow we're spoiled here at swa. I think some of you guys need to take a deep breath and look around for a momment. What ever happened to being THANKFUL to have a good job, especially in the current enviroment? Is this TA perfect? No. Is it probably the best we can do right now? yes? maybe? One thing I can tell you is voting this down will change things only for the worse. GK is committed to this codeshare crap. Nothing will change his mind. He is to scared to let us attempt it. That sucks, but it's a fact, and he's the boss. The company will not come back to the table to "make things right" and we will end up in the hands of a judge. How do you think that will turn out?? Maybe this is good enough for now and we can try again in 2 years when the industry isn't in the crapper. btw, I'm a FO and this is screwing my career too. I expected to upgrade in 6ish years and 4 more years in the right seat is depressing, but things change.
p.s. "starving lance captains"?? are you kidding me? 200K is starving?? If you are a lance captain and have a life dependent on that parttime captain salary then you're a idiot. I personally dont like the program and will be happy to see it reduced.

Me thinks you need to STFU. NPA/ALPA are taking a first step in the right direction while SWAPA's got a lot of 'splaining to do over the events of the past year they were complicit in (PHL deice incident, UFlyMike cockup, etc).

PHL deice incident?

What is a UFlyMike cockup?

Well we could also start using "CIRÇUS 123" instead of "CITRUS123".... plausible deniability...... bring your hat but do not wear it....
If confronted by any of the BOZO haters.....mea culpa and don the hat to comply and then promptly remove when able. Not in it to start a knock down drag out fight...

During a violent last minute a/c swap..with a scheduled 33 min. turn..inbound gate D2..new a/c outbound gate C20...I was trying to maintain schedule integrity and left it in the previous a/c. I hope somebody turns it in to the lost and found.

Thats my story and I'm stickin to it.

Besides, my hat defines me as a person and I would be lost without it.

Now you did indeed miss the point by a mile. It is ALL about a show of SOLIDARITY!
sigh  Yes, I know about unity. But once again, it misses the point when half the pilot group has not worn the hat for years anyway. Management is not going to be impressed, they're just going to yawn and assume it's business as usual.

Not this management group. Wait and see.

I'm predicting the reaction will either be disproportionate, juvenile, and ill-advised; or met with forced silence.

Either way, it will result in even more pilot unity.

Are you referring to more pilots recieving time off?

Here's the real question: Is the suspended guy coming back with full back pay, and anything he may have lost during the suspension? If yes, then NPA is doing its job, and this show of unity is worth it. If not, then they're just disguising their impotence. Then this is just a diversion from the one issue that really matters.

Couldn't disagree with you more. . . . talk about faulty logic.

The NPA is doing exactly what they should do. Pay-protect the pilot, publicize the incident through press releases and notification to the pilot group, using the incident to galvanize the pilot group, and displaying unity through informational picketing and a hats off week.

All of the above, during an election to bring ALPA on the property . . . . perhaps you have some better ideas . . . can't wait to hear them, I'm sure they're really stellar.

I have been receiving phone calls from all over the country (some in the industry and some not) about our press release regarding the FO that was suspended. Everyone that I have talked with is amazed and shocked that AirTran management would behave this way. People not in the airline industry that work in management positions at other companies have said to me it is important your union unite and work together. All interpreted the press release as AirTran having a hostile work environment. This is getting the attention of people all over the country. Now it is time to bring this to the attention of the shareholders.

Copy dat!!!

Don't you think you should layoff all those dead weight training instructors you have first???

That would be a good start to making Air Tran a fun place to be. No more nazi training peeps would help.

If you could understand english and read then you'd understand that my post wasn't a surrender. If you would like to start a new tread comparing union accomplishments then I'm ready. Believe it or not, dumba$$, I want you airtran guys to do well. We all need to do better and attempt to bring this industry back.
