It is Martin State. It's a VOR approach; DME arc is the final approach course. On the missed you intercept a radial to another DME arc.

Anyone mention KSUN (Hailey, ID) or KJAC (Jackson Hole, WY)...both can be a challenge when wx isn't delightful...

PITA's for me would be KTEB, KHPN, KORD (especially on departure), KPWK, and KDFW (taxi HEL L)

If the weather is bad at KSUN, then there's always Twin Falls.

KJAC has a precision approach for crying out loud. So long as you don't use dissimiliar outdated charts and try to land there at night without lights while hauling celebrities about...you'll be fine.

Mini...the problem isn't the departure, its making sure you hit all the marks for noise abatement - notice I put that in the PITA (Pain in the ___), not the scary difficult.

As for you avbug-ger...WTF is your issue with me?? Its a challenging approach into KSUN if you've never done it & oh...KJAC has a precision approach! Really? How wonderful of you to tell me since I've only shot it a couple dozen times. However, I've seen the wx go from 10 miles to nothing while I was landing. You've got a wicked attitude bud. Oh...I get it - you're just sore cuz you don't have the special authorization for that ASE approach, aren't 'ya??!! HAHAHAHA - nanny nanny boo f'n boo. Care to make it 4555 idiot? :uzi:

Airports like ASE are technically demanding. When it comes to pure "pain in the keester" airports I'd have to rank SMO up somewhere near the top of the list. The Noise Nazis must get a real kick out of watching the low altitude airshows as guys try to not ring the bell.

Mini - yeah its been about 6 months since I've been there, but look through the procedure and there are "gates" that you have to go through at certain DME's and Altitudes or else they bust on you. I was out there in a Diamondjet (read, not a lot of performance), and Departure was complaining cuz we weren't keeping 250 kts!! Either I make the gates or your speed - what would you like? I know what I'm gonna do!

Sled - SMO I only landed at from SFO and then airlined out of the area, but yeah - it certainly looked like a PITA noise abatement. Hmmm...you live near the airport yet complain about the noise..........go figure. Sounds like Naples, FL where I missed getting to go there in the Falcon 20 - I think they'd have had problems with us...ugg!

Never needed it before...been flying there for years without any difficulty.

At least you come off sounding professional...that's the main thing. Sounds like it's all you've got going for you.

Well...pal...I've been working for the same company for 3 yrs & I've done quite well for myself. I don't care to be 'hired' anymore, so I honestly don't care what you think. I speak English quite well thank you, but simply bring myself down to a level that you can understand, sir.

Anyway - anyone else have any ugly airports they hate. Would love to hear about them instead of me bickering with this 'wanna be'...yes - my words.
