I remember the days when it meant something to mess around with Teamsters. They used to drive trucks or not drive them to get things done. It seems there are no consequences for folks messing around with teamsters that drive jets? Why don't the Teamsters stop some DHL trucks or slow down DHL's business? I mean DHL has just screwed an entire community and everyone keeps moving their mail... Why? DHL is going to give UPS a billion dollars. DHL is only loosing $800 mil at ABX - due to their bad management. The deal stinks! Quit moving their boxes Teamsters!

Many more Teamsters work at UPS than DHL.

UPS is not adding any new people to cover the new work nor were jobs being lost. ABX is loosing lots of people. So, this is a net loss for the Teamsters. It is also supposed to be the Brotherhood of Teamsters. Where's the brotherhood? I'm sure not feeling any love from them...

Actually, that is a false statement. UPS is not discussing ANY job opertunities as a result of the DHL deal until the deal is signed. Straight from the top. It probably won't account for the numbers lost, but there will be teamster jobs added.

Why does somebody else have to stand up. You guys should have parked the jets along time ago. Just keep flying and moving the freight, Im sure it will work out.

Be carefull what you wish for!

Exactly,

I would love to stick it to the idiots in Germany, but I am smart enough to know that I am not smart enough to know how this might screw me and or everyone else. If a work stoppage was done, (illegally I might add) it might allow dhl some type of "out" to get this deal done quicker than what is already planned. If we did park the planes could DHL just pull out and leave without severance packages? I do not know. I have to trust that our union is doing its best to keep jobs as long as possible and working on getting the most it can for our pilots who will be on the streets (P.S. that is me).

I don't advocate doing anything illegal. I do think a slow down would be good. ABX is not paying anything for sick days unless we use them. Let's use them. That's not illegal. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome. Having a near perfect on-time record with DHL seems be doing no good at all and JH seems to be trying to bankrupt ABX to get rid of the union and set the executives up for golden parachutes...

You are advocating a job action by using up sick time. I believe that is illegal. That contradicts your statement of "I don't advocate doing anything illegal."

an illegal job action, are you kidding. about 80% of your pilots are going to be on the street next year not to mention about 10,000 other workers.

Reading between the lines, it seems that DHL will have almost everybody on the street come December 2008.

The end is near for DHL America.

The writing's been on the wall for some time now, it sucks but that's aviation. It was a good ride while it lasted, move on. I've been there, got the t-shirt, etc. The longer you wait, the harder it is. Your brother Teamsters at Brownstain ain't gonna do jack to help you.

Im just curious. Im not a lawyer so this might seem stupid. DHL came out and announced the plan, and a lot of employees called in sick because your not in the mental state to fly because of the anxiety of losing your job, how would this be illegal. Wouldnt you be complying with the regulations.

Yes you are complying with the regs to make sure you are fit to fly. The problem is that DHL has a performance clause in the ACMI that if the performance drops too low then DHL can take their ball and walk away right now, instead of a protracted time later. Time to use to get another job, time to try and fight our great leaders for a severance package that was already allocated from DHL, time to burn up your sick days that you will not get paid for if you do not use them, time to get a type rating form the company for an aircraft that no one flys anymore, time to continue getting heath insurance so your children can go to the doctors if they are sick.

Did you get the drift of my post.......TIME..... that is the only reason that this place is still standing. Could you imagine how fast this place would have imploded if there was any type of real hiring going on in the industry, people would have walked at the initial announcement.

Very well said! As much as we would love to sink the ship, our families are still on the boat without pfd's on.

The top Teamsters' leadership should be bringing national attention to DHL and the job losses they are causing for a deal that makes little sense unless their is some alterior motive. Bad press should rain down every day on DHL in the national press.

Merry Christmas, right?!:puke:

I am a Teamster and I think they suck.. It s all business just like ALPA. The Teamsters biggest fish are the UPS drivers and I haven't seen the national do crap about anything except for some pre-recorded phone call about voting for the democrats at election time. They won't say or do sh*t about this predicament for fear of pissing off the UPS drivers.
