I know all of you have seen the ads on the planes telling passengers that corporate aviation is the reason behind their delays and fees. Well yesterday I got an email from Delta saying the same thing and I should contact my congressman against corporate aircraft. Not only the email but in the email it had a search engine by putting your zip code in, it would give you the name and address of your congressman. ALSO had 8 places to put your friends email address in so they too can cry like Delta. I put the Delta email address in and sent it back with a BS note.
Has anyone else got this email? I'm sure other airlines are crying too but GIVE ME A BREAK.
just had to vent.

Help Us Decrease Delays and Decongest U.S. Airspace

Dear Cut em up,

Providing the highest quality service to our customers is the guiding principle in everything we do at Delta. But it is difficult for us to provide the level of service you deserve when air traffic in the United States is controlled with pre-WWII methods and technology.
Within a decade, traffic delays will cost the economy $40 billion a year, and you, the customer, a great deal of wasted time. There will be 85% more jets in the sky in the next 15 years—an increase driven largely by corporate jets, fractional jets, air-taxis and very light jets. To an air traffic controller, a jet with a celebrity or a CEO takes as much effort as a commercial flight with 250 passengers. However, the current system is funded almost entirely by the airline ticket tax, meaning that you are paying for nearly 95% of the air traffic system while corporate and private jets get a free ride!
You can help make a difference! Please contact your Congressional representatives and ask them to:

 • Quit forcing you to subsidize corporate jets through the current unfair ticket tax
 • Support a new cost-based ATC finance structure that will fund the system fairly and enable the FAA to modernize our aging ATC system
Working in a partnership with other airlines, we will do everything we can to continue to improve upon the customer experience. For more information on this initiative, called "Smart Skies," go to smartskies.org/delta. We can make a difference!

Every time that I am at ATL trying to depart (as a passenger) I try to look around as the airline propoganda is on the "Airport CNN channel." I like to see the peoples faces as they watch it. I usually try to make conversation about it with someone sitting next to me. It's funny because nobody beleives that crap, not even the passengers. I say, "Wow its corporate jets that are causing all these delays? I don't see any little jets out the window waiting in line for departure. But I do see about three hundred delta jets and a few other airlines out there."

F.U. Delta, yeah, its all "those little corporate jets" that schedule 30 departures within 10 minutes of each other at the busiest airport in the world and wonder why nothing is on time. I just love the fact that airlines; who are such great examples of fiscal operational efficency(sarcasm on high); try to educate the masses on how to properly fund a system that they cant seem to manage on a normal day.
F the airlines

Ya know what, I'm sick of hearing both sides in this argument whine, fight and spew BS in to the media and my inbox.

Airlines don't want to pay for anything. Big surprise.

Corporate doesn't want to pay for anything. Shocking.

It's just a political game being played out in the media and the airlines are better at the "press release" game. It will come down to who has more of the ruling senate and house committee in their pocket...just like it always has and always will.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying complaining about my job much more than worrying about the guy in the back having to pay a $10.00 approach fee before landing at BOS and paying a $750 landing fee.

Siting in TEB makes me grumpy.

American politics in a nutshell. The executive, legislative, or judicial branch doesn't run this country, lobbyists do.

yeah, but what about those of us who fly for our own convenience or pleasure? The system is funded already, user fees are bogus.

DAL wants those Corp guys back in 1st Class paying the big bucks so they can pay their pilots more.

Made a slight correction for you.

Are you referring to that cartoon where the planes have faces and the little lear jet scoots to the head of the line for takeoff and the big airliners get mad looks on their faces?

Exactly. It doesn't seem to work at ATL where you almost NEVER get out on time, but almost NEVER see anything but a Delta aircraft. Yeah right, "It's all those 'learjets' that make all the airliners wait."

Has anyone ever seen a picture of 30 corporate jets lined up waiting for takeoff with an airliner being held up???

How many thousands of pictures are on a.net of 30 airliners (mostly 50 seaters) waiting for takeoff?

I think I've been to a Class B airport like 4 times in the past year.

The airlines are grasping; their brass better not be caught on a bizjet anytime soon.

I have had countless delays and cancellations on Delta. Their total lack of customer service is horrible.

Delta=Doesn't Ever Leave The Airport.

The best spin on this would be to show all the Delta Passengers that they have their own fractional group that is helping "clog" the system. Why has no one brought up Delta Elite? Kind of the pot calling the kettle black in my opinion.

Delta: Patently crying over sour grapes:

All the high-paying business-fares have fled Delta because the value is gone.

Delta's entire corporate culture depends upon a few full-fare tickets on every flight. Ain't happening.

They simply don't know how to cope with the new reality.

From an AOPA member flying DAL: the captain was encouraging its passengers to contact their legislators and support the airlines position. That is selfish in my opinion, but what do I know?

And you're not selfish in advocating an opposing position on a public forum?

"Mr. Kettle, meet Mr. Pot."

Everyone is selfish to some extent. Don't let it bother you.

I wish you success!

Of course the skies are too crowded.
It's just as much Delta's fault as it is the fractionals fault. I can remember when Delta flew widebodies from ATL to nearby cities, where now, they serve the same cities with ASA and the barbie jet. Instead of having 2 flights per day in a 767, they have 8 flights a day in an RJ. It's not even cost effective. The passengers pay for it by waiting in line for 45 minutes.

Back in the day, companies like NetjJets didn't exist. Now they have over 650 aircraft clogging up the system.
Nearly every morning, it's not uncommon to have to hold going into ATL.

The ATC system wasn't designed for this many aircraft.

I wish our Management had your insight and perspective.

My recent trips on DAL have actually been on crappy ASA RJ's (I must say the gay ASA FA's did provide excellent cabin service, much better than you get from fat black FA's with Atlantatude).

AirTran had a B-717 on the same route, but it cost more so my cheap company travel office booked me on DAL. Both legs ended up costing $650 a piece and completely sucked! Aircraft over-sold, I got the exit row, but had to sit next to a 400 lb slob, arrive in ATL on-time, but sat on the ramp for over an hour waiting to be parked.

Of course the problem is too many DAL RJs, flying slow, crowding the skys, hauling pax that should be on a bigger and faster B-717. You could probably put the pax from three RJ's on one 717 or MD 88 and save everyone the delay, including DAL.

JFK can handle 47 departures an hour in perfect weather, yet they allow @ 55 to 60 to be scheduled. Average biz jet airframe fly's @375 hours per year and the average SouthWest 737 fly's 3700. To blame GA sickens me. Nice Delta, real nice. Say,DA, how big are your executive bonus's this year? and when will your flight crews see the same for saving your mahogany row behinds?

I could not believe that they were stupid enough to send that out to some of their largest customers. Net Jets, Flight Options, Flex Jet, Citation Shares and others like that. There is no hospital for stupid!
