Thought I would add to the mystery in who is getting called. I'm a former DL employee with 6500tt and 2700 jet pic. Haven't heard a word.

and the note in '08. Sorry for the confusion, I should have said the note and the claim will be paid out by '08. The claim should be paid out in '07 and the note 6-12 month after BK exit.

I heard from Ax that the claim is selling between 60 and 80 cents on the dollar! If you average 70 cents thats around $160,000 sometime this year! I guess that will help big time in the retirement accounts! Do you know yet if we have to specify which funds etc we want the payout to go to? Or will it go into the insurance contracs and then we shift it where we want?

I 'm a former employee with DAL. I have 6000 Hrs TT, 5000 turbine, 3000 PIC turbine. I was offered the job last week .

All former captains with several thousand hours in turbojets and quite a bit of PIC time.

Actually, one was a 4 year ASA FO who also had 22 years (give or take) as a DAL Flight Attendant. A little 135 time (from what I've heard), but not much.

I know about five Delta pilots. Hypothetical situation. I'm an FO for say ASA, maybe with 1000-2500 hrs. tt.

Three of my Delta friends recommend me. Would I be competitive with my times or is the 5500 tt a hard fast rule?

Thanks in advance!

I was told March 12 as well, but then told that it could be as late as May. No one from the second week or third week of interviews has gotten a call yet. For 160K I would come off of furlough as well.

I have heard that the 5500 is the magic number. I know that there have been guys and gals that have gotten in above that, but they were well connected. I was in fact told that this was what their initial filter was. It is something that they can change at anytime. It is all up to the powers that be in the hiring dept. I have seen that there are a few guys and gals with no connections to DAL that are now getting called. I guess that they are starting to burn through that pile really quick. Either way it is great to see them hiring again.

Did you mean below 5500TT? It's still a little unclear to me...Are you saying that if you have above 5500 that you'll be overqualified?

For now they are looking at applicants with less than 6000 hrs. That is not to say that they will not hire anyone with more than that. As it has been relayed to me, this is what their filter is. I have discussed this with one of the interviewers and she agrees that this needs to change. What and see who they call. It is truly up to Capt. Swift and no one else. He is the one that make the determination on who gets the call.

For now they are looking at applicants with less than 6000 hrs.

And the logic behind that is what, exactly?? I don't doubt what you're saying, but that just makes no sense. By that "filter", the guy with 3500 TT and 1500 PIC gets an interview while the guy with 7000 TT and 5000 PIC gets passed over. To put it another way, the guy who upgraded the day before 9/11 and has been toiling away at his regional of choice, building quality experience for 6 years is now a less qualified applicant than the Riddle wunderkind who was hired in 2003 with a wet commercial ticket, took a quick upgrade, and let dispatchers, schedulers, and Chief Pilots babysit him through being a Captain. Never thought I'd see the day when people were being turned down by Legacy carriers for being "overqualified". If this really is the new model, we ought to just go ahead and take pilots out of airplanes now.

I despise this business. It's no wonder I drink.

I agree that that is the situation that I am in. I was the ideal candidate in 01 and now with over 8000 hrs I am un-trainable.
I guess that there is some precedence for this. FedEx told me to get my stuff in and on board before I had 9500 hrs. I guess it gets more difficult to get a job there after that amount of time.

No call for me yet.
7000 total, 4000 PIC turbine, Delta Legacy (my dad's a retired DAL pilot), Delta Conn (SkyWest), 2 internal recommendations.

Me either

7400 TT
6500 Turbine
4900 121 PIC

2 internal recs, 1 more retired
ASA for over 7 years

Now I'm nervous that I'm over qualified..

Amazing. Six years ago I had 5200 tt and 1800 PIC turbine and they wouldn't look at me. Now I've got 9800 tt and 4500 PIC and I'm over qualified. Next time I go to dentist... I want the mediocure one.

my boyfriend is in that same situation. How can you be over qualified?!?!?!? 6500TT 4500PIC. I am getting sick thinking of all his friends that have been hired at continental with much less time and they won't even look at his ap. He has his ap at delta too. This industry is definitly weird. Let's just hope for tha SWA call on friday.... sorry just venting...

7K
3K Jet PIC
4 types
Heavy int'l experince.
1 internal rec who walked my stuff in to the right people.
No call

I have heard they are looking for alot of low time/young aged pilots. I think it is great to give someone a chance, especially those with low time. They are just as trainable to fly the autopilot as anyone else.

A few things for all. There is by no means a concrete ceiling on time. The 6000 hr cap is for the filter that I as well as a few other people have been told they are using. Now if you have a good in, a few goodies on your resume (Line Check Airman, Chief Pilot, WIA, etc), basically something that stands out, all bets are off. You could get a call with 20K hrs. What I was told is that they one, think of trainability and two, why you are where you are and have not gotten hired somewhere else.
With that said, there are a lot of people that have voiced their grave concerns over this and want to see it changed. They have stated that the guys with 7K plus are the ones that were on the bubble in 01 and got caught after 9/11. I think that you will see a lot of guys and gals with more time get hired now. Namely because more qualified applicants are now applying with DAL going it alone.
One a side note, if you are waiting to hear about a class, call. They will not tell you are hired, but they will tell you one of two things. One, that they are waiting for a class date for you, or two, you are cleared for training. What the second one means is that all of the boxes are yes, and you are good to go. Most of the pilots in that group are waiting for the PRIA info to come back. If you did not lie then expect a class. From what I was just told today that will be late April or early May.
I hopes this helps.

Low Time? I guess if you consider over 5000 hours low time. In 2000 I think I had around 7000 hours and 6000 turbine. Does not look like it has changed that much.

During 9/11, I had around 2300 hours, 1500 turbine, and 0 121 PIC. I would say that I was way underqualified. Now at 7400TT, 6500 turbine and 4900 121 PIC, I have too much. What is wrong with this picture? I guess it wasn't meant to be.

Drop me a private message and I will see if I can get your info into the right hands. I appreciate the help ASA gave several years back!
