NYRANGERS,

Well, no, that's the exact opposite of my way of thinking. But your response validates my main point that as long as folks are unwilling to set aside their emotional response to a difficult time throughout the industry, these issues will inevitably descend into a finger pointing exercise.

There has to be somebody to blame, and the Delta and Comair groups have picked their's out quite definitively.

As I said, having recently arrived at Comair, I haven't developed that innate dislike of the Delta pilot group that I occasionally run into here.

But your snide remarks do make them more understandable.

I mean no insult here. I, like yourself, spent only a very little amount of time on line before the furlough(around 6 months). I had no idea the kind of rift between the pilot groups. We have the most liberal scope in the industry, your airline is getting 37 planes next year. Mine is furloughing, and shrinking.

I learned about the bitterness from these forums, and from talking to my friends at comair. You may notice that there are very few Delta pilots who write on all the message boards. I truly think there is a big misperception among the pilot groups. I think the majority of us would get along and try to come to some agreement. It just seems that it only takes a few crass statements or policies to cause an uproar with the masses.

I truely think this is going to severely hurt our groups relationships for a long time to come. I mean no harm, and do honestly wish you guys the best.

NYRANGERS,

No fair editing your posts while I'm responding, you forced me to delete a perfectly good cutting remark... ;)

You've mistated my position, in fact you've stated exactly the opposite of what I believe. I don't see myself ever going to Delta (or any other major) for reasons I posted above, but my point was that this emotional bitterness is what is keeping the two pilot groups from forming a unified front. Well, that and the almost insoluable seniority issue. But that doesn't mean in any way that there isn't a way to help out the Delta furloughees, or for the Comair guys who want to, to move up.

I watched two otherwise good friends (one AA and one TWA) have a bitter disagreement over their seniority list integration. It doesn't surprise me at all that the Delta pilot group wants to keep the DCI pilot groups at arms length.

However, trying to understand the opposite party's position, and recognizing the history involved in the dispute are the first steps in coming up with some kind of a resolution.

Good luck anyway. I hate seeing anyone out of a job.

EDIT************

Dang it, you got inside my OODA loop. My response, which you quoted was in reply to your original, unedited post. As such, I retract the spicy bit at the end.
