I bid for A1 window and always get switched to A4 or A5... I bid to make my commute a little easier and no.. can't have any of that!

It won't matter much this month.. with all you guys getting your first 100 hours, I'll be lucky to do a SBN out and back!

Heard several (7) very junior F/Os left to go to Chautauqua. Their reason was that even though the payscale is a little bit lower than Comair's - CAPTAIN at Chautauqua pays more than F/O at Comair.

So, assuming the upgrade time at CHQ remains 3-5 years while Comair's is significantly longer, I have to say it seems they have a point.

Newhires and Windows

I just spoke with a friend who interviewed during the third week in September and got the call one week later. Was told that he'd likely be in class by February.

Interesting . . .

Regarding A1, A2, etc. windows, they are the specific "window" time periods that reserve pilots must be available by pager for 90 minute call-outs to assignments. It's been awhile (thank goodness) since I suffered the pain of reserve but my recollection is that most of the windows are 14-hour periods (e.g. A1 might be 4:00 to 18:00). One thing I remember most about reserve -- particularly ready reserve -- was that warm, fuzzy feeling I had everytime I saw a newhire class getting the tour of the crewroom. "Ah, I'm 8 more guys closer to getting off reserve."

Unfortunately the A1 window is 0001-1400. I never got called really early but the trips that I did get all had 0445 or 0500 reports every day, which really wears on you after awhile.

No worries, man. She does it for everyone! I always have to call her before I get home from a trip -- just to make sure she's alone!!

upgrades will come to a halt at Chautauqua if US Air goes under, Hopefully they won't for many livlihoods at stake but, what's up?
