keep up the good work boys. While you bicker and infight about scraps, whos flying what etc, you company is choking on the upper decker that I left in Memphis before i resigned. So carry on as always while my boy Shockey and i cruise Memphis in our Aston Martins and eat sushi boats off of the naked stomachs of thai hookers. My golden parachute is counting on you..

I don't think Pinnacle's training dept. has anything to be proud of either if you look at their track record...BOTH airlines are equally lousy....

And for anyone keeping score, it's important to note that it's been exactly FIVE years since Pinnacle purchased Colgan to garner more flying (see CHEAPER flying). So, Pinnacle has oversight over TWO training departments.

Here's a quick history lesson. Uncle Phildo said: "Doug, our pesky Pinnacle pilots would just ask for too much damn money to fly that Q400. Why don't we buy little Colgan and ensure they are the ones flying the nice, new Q400 for slave rates. I'll even install an all-star team to run the New Colgan/Pinnacle Light. Wuddya say we go with Buddy Casey and Harry Mitchel at the top, they're awesome. From there, I'm confident they'll make smart hires, especially in positions related to getting a new plane (like a Q400) up and running smoothly. I'm so ****ing smart! Fire up the Cohiba's, cuz it's BONUS TIME, b*tches!!!"

this is poetic brilliance.

It's probably good you didn't come to the jet yet, considering the astronomical failure rate the Saab people are having lately.

Hmmmm, I am in training now and certainly nobody in my class is having anything near any trouble. Our instructor also said he was impressed with the amount of information we were learning compared to his previous 9E classes. There has been no talk about "astronomical failure rates" which I would hope be discussed if they were having problems.

All that being said, this training program is a piece of crap. 75% of our learning is done outside training hours and from the Mesaba 200 powerpoints we look at on our own. But, it is what it is. Get through training and then try to improve things from the inside I guess.

The previous class that I'm aware of lost 5 out of 11, mostly in the sim and OE.

Just because someone gets a "pink" slip on a type ride or needs a few more hours of OE, doesn't mean they're "lost." You make it sound like almost 50% are not even able to make it through to the line. I find that hard to believe.

You may be right, but our ground instructor doesn't even have that informatiin. That is sad in its own right if what you say is true. We would hate to learn from others mistakes .

I'm sure this is more of your made-up "I hate everyone not 9E
" non-sense.

But for fun, if those numbers are correct, than I would say there is something seriously wrong with the training department. Maybe it is the instructors that need to be evaluated.

I am pretty sure I would have been fired from my instructing job if I could only get half of my students through.

One of the truest things ever said on FI.com.

There isn't a lot of accountability in either training dept. At my airline within Pinnacolaba, when one hears of another failing a sim event, the same Instructor names keep coming up. Where's the standardization in that? The mgmt sides of our training & standards departments don't get it.

sounds like a problem with the training dept itself. from what I understand there is a one size fits all mentality there. they have been upgrading buys with3-4000 hours in the jet for the past 10 years and are expecting guys who have never flown the aircraft to be on that level.

if 5 out of 11 guys are not making it through testing then obviously the training is not preparing them for the testing.

Pinnacle's training is the same as every other airlines, if you study hard and have a good attitude you will do fine, simple as that.

Just wait till some of the 4-5 year jet FO's start upgrading to the Q400, talk about asses n elbows....lol
