Excuse my ig. What is outstation basing? Does that mean per diem and a paid place to rest your head?

Outstation basing means that the crews are not based at the hub of operations but at one of the oustations. Instead of being in JFK, LGA, BOS, or wherever, you are based in Rochester, Syracuse, Burlington, ect. Some oustation that the company serves.

Typically, but not all the time, crews fly mostly daytrips. Starting in the oustation base, say Rochester, and may fly 6-8 legs back and forth between ROC and BOS and ending your day back in ROC. The good thing is, if you happen to live in the oustation base, you are home every night. You either work the morning or evening, or possibly all freaking day. The down side, if you commute it can brutal. It often may entail a two plus leg commute.

To answer your question, a hotel in not provided since you are back in base every night. Also, you are home at your base, so no hotel either. And as long as you are back home every night and flying day trips, your perdiem is taxable since your rest period is located at your base.

Heard this from a good source: Within the next three months Colgan Air will be buying 12 DHC-8-300's to operate out of JFK as Delta Connection to begin service before 2007. This was sopposed to be Mesa's or excuse me, Freedom Air's territory but due to their "failure to preform" Colgan was selected as the next operator. Outstation basing likely and hiring to begin in full swing within 1 month to staff the Dashs. No street CA's look for upgrade on the Saab side to drop back down to 13-15 months at most. Contract length is atleast 7 years. Good news!

I haven't read the rest of the posts, I just HAD to comment on this one though...

Where would they dig up 12 DHC-300's by 2007? Those things are in demand all over the world and for good reason. They are very good at hauling pax efficiently. I would be very suprised if yall could find 4 dhc-300's by next year..

They have already acquired them. There are 7 so far, and more on the way. Currently they are in underground bunkers near Presque Isle and Bangor Maine. See, when you are a senator, you have connections and can "make things happen". Check out the unauthorized pictures earlier in the post.
