Could someone PM me with what happened. The memo put out is so vague as to be nearly useless. If someone screwed up, maybe it was an FOPP interpretation issue that others might be having too.

That wasn't a screwup. It has to do with the problem in getting the Q400's up and running. Unfortunately, they will not be ready to fly by Dec. as originally planned. The 1900's will be moved around the system to cover this problem for the next 6 months.

Ya right!!! Some idiot let someone in the cockpit ie passanger, now the company is going to hang them out to dry, maybe alpa could help, oh wait, 155 spinless pilots voted that down.

I'm not an ALPA basher, but how would they help someone if they knowingly let a pax into the cockpit inflight? Does that person somehow deserve to keep their job?

It is pretty unprofessional to let a passenger in the cockpit and it doesn't speak well for the person. I hope there is more to the story than this.

Big deal! A bunch of European Carriers allow Passengars to take a look in the Cockpit during Cruise!

Hell, Luftansa let a friend of mine sit in the Jumpseat on landing in a A340! Said the Captain did a autoland while smoking a Cigarette, once the airplane landed the captain looked at him and winked!!!! (guess that is unprofessional)

While I am saying its not right, and knowing that you can get fired over it. To me its just not that big of a deal!

Did the person just peak in, or did they go into the cockpit and close the door and sit in the jumpseat!!!

And what about the 1900's!!! Hell, all you gotta do slide the door over and watch away!!!

Its only unprofessional on how it was handled!!

I hear what you are saying, but we don't have all of the facts. (The two sides to every story...) Any way you slice it, it sounds like someone knowingly and willingly violated company procedure and got CAUGHT. (Not that ANY of us would do the same.)

As for the Beech, its a tough story. I leave the doors open to make sure no one is walking around during take-off and landing. Other than that I close the doors to preserve my sanity (or what's left of it).

Here's the third side to the story. The people of knowledge in goverment spend untold millions of dollars screening people at airports and making rules about cockpit doors while our airports are being protected with just chain link house yard fences. Anyone can drive a truck through any U.S. airport fence any time they want to, be in a terminal or
under a aircraft within seconds and there is no way to stop them. This is the same pre 9-11 thought process (eyes wide shut). No wonder a key-chain screw driver was bad bad bad..

One of the true beauties of having ALPA is everyone has right to representing. Even the the people that should not be flying 121. ALPA files suite in court over turd ball being fired. Company looks at $ it will cost to fight the case in court. Presto! turd ball back on line with back pay. System also works for guys that do get fired for BS. System seems to work best for turd balls. Nature of the beast.

I am not trying to bust on you Vecorvictor, all I am saying is that the aviation industry sucks! Mainly because the terrorist won! They made us change the way we think, the way Management treats us, the pay, The way we treat our pax....... on and on and on!!!!

This industry after 9/11 has been terrible! I remember Captains retiring and having there wives or kid ride in the Jumpseat for that last flight..... Not anymore!!!! The days that the FA's would come into the cockpit during cruise and would .......nevermind :-0 Not anymore!

I just wish we could get some more fun back into the job, thats all!

Everthing we hear or read about aviaiton is negative!!! Just sucks................

You're not picking on me.

The sad fact is that it really isn't our (the aviation community's) fault. The American media machine is obsessed with air safety because our nation's greatest moment of terror involved the use of commercial airplanes. In a way it's like closing the gate after the horses are out of the stable. I don't think our world will ever be the same. There is a lot of money in the "war on terror" and "global warming" and not much education on the part of the American people as to what is really going on. The fact that NASCAR (I have nothing against the sport so don't wreck me on this one) is our nation's largest spectator event says a lot about us as a whole.

But in our reality the center of attention is aviation and the "control" of commercial aircraft. Thus opening the cockpit door is now a big no no. We've gone so far as a society that we think arming the pilots makes us safer. (I'm not against the FFDO program...but I think it isn't an effective terrorist deterrent.)

In a couple months we are going to start patroling our southern borders to prevent illegal Mexican immigrants from coming here. Apparently they are a threat to us?

No one would want to look at some of the real issues in our country. 1. The devaluation of the American dollar by national debt and a fed the lowers national interest rates to please wealthy business. 2. Over 3 million Americans are in jail. 3. Black on black crime in urban areas doubled every decade since 1980

If you want to fight the war on terror....throw away your TV.

great post VV but going back to that memo........what happened?? A CJC capt let a pax in the cockpit while on cruise?? when did this happened?

What does NASCAR have to do with anything? NASCAR is part of what makes this nation great.

Yeah I haven't seen the memo. What happened??

man, i asked the clt controller to turns us ever the speedway saturday during the race! awesome views, the pax absolutely loved it!!!!!

Yea... What wrong with Nascar????? Atleast its a sport where the freaking drivers arent doing Crack Cocaine, Killing there wives, Shooting Guns is strip Clubs, Hiring people to Kill there Knocked up Girlfriends... i could go on and on about the NBA and NFL!!!

Sooooo Jeez, I would think NASCAR is more american then those two!!

The problem with this country is that we are so narrow mined! You can't buy a Explict Lyrics CD in Walmart, but you can buy a .357 and bullets and shoot up your school.

The media Freaks out that Janet Jackson shows some tit, but it doesn't care that half the TV shows today glorify violence and guns and killing!!!

Tits Bad! Killing Good!!! Jeez!!

I dont know about most of ya!! But I would take more tits over killing on tv anyday!!!
