Thanks guys yes I know I do come across cocky on the board but in real life its totally not me. Im just getting a little upset with this one teacher in particular because he nit picks me and never finds anything to say and even went to the extent of saying that if I ever got hired at this school that he would never give me an instrument student. WTF? Now when I go to some of the other instructors they say im doing just fine with were I'm at and to not worry too much about this individuals opinion because he likes to think of himself as being the God of flying. Well thats fine and all but I can't argue with the man too much because ultimatly he knows better than I do at this point. So I kind of just take it all in and if I don't like it I say ok, its not worth losing a potential job lead. Hey amish ya I would love to fly in weather down to mins but with the temp. we saw the other day we would picked up loads of ice.
You're learning to be a CFI, the nit-picking is for your own good. When I was in CFI school my instructor did the same. I hated it at the time, but as I got closer to the checkride I realized that while he had torn me down quite a bit, he had also built me up. I had never been so confidant before a checkride and while the CFI ride is considered the hardest, it almost seemed to be the easiest after this instructor.
Also you have to realize that unless he is wrong, then his nit-picking is an area that can be improved. Since you are going for your CFI, if you can improve it, don't you owe it to your students to improve? Just because your performance may be "good-enough" to pass the ride, doesnt mean you can rest on your laurels. Just keep plugging along, use his criticism (even if it does seem harsh) constructively and keep trying to make yourself a better pilot and instructor.

Ya Im to the point that I take it as a grain of salt. I'm about to schedule my CFII today provided I get my endorsement which I shouldn't have a problem with. Now I'm worried though because the FSDO up here has an 80% failure rate. You literally can't get anything wrong or they fail you. So being perfect in the eyes of the FAA is not going to be easy. But If there is one ride I know I can pass easily its the CFII. Somehow instrument just clicks with me and I enjoy flying and teaching it.

Sounds like you've got your excuse already prepared. Good job.

Hopefully they like 14 year olds...otherwise you may not stand a chance.

Now there's a surprise. An instructor who flies with you tells you he will never give you an instrument student. Shocking--not.

Perhaps you should find a different instructor who tells you what you want to hear. Might as well be deaf, dumb, and blind until the checkride...but at least you'll show up, fat, dumb, and happy.

I have made mistakes and thought wrongly about some things in aviation but I’ve made the right decision on those matters.
You've made mistakes and thought wrongly, but made the right decision about the wrong choices and the right decision in your mistakes? Do you ever listen to yourself?

I had some issues come up with my instrument rating at SIU. I no longer continued there.

Yes, we know. And we know your instructor believes you should never have an instrument student. There's a trend, here, and it bears out in your language and your behavior. But of course, you're an entirely different person than the fool you present yourself to be here...so you say, over and over and over.

Are doing the CFII as an initial? If so don't expect it to be easy.

Also congrats on the avbug love. Ive been around here for a few years and I don't think I've ever seen him show so much attention to one person.

My god, ALIMBO.

Your posts here paint the picture that you have extreme issues- maturity, intelligence, aptitude, perspective, attitude... Basically the same issues all people had but usually outgrew by adolescence (if not childhood).

Please, just show a little more maturity here. Ostensibly, you are in command of flying petrol bombs with the goal of flying ever larger machines. With your attitude, that makes me nervous for you and anyone around you.

This will be met with a poorly worded diatribe I'm sure, but what the heck. Reading your posts has ticked me off a time or two; hopefully I've returned the favor. As TonyC (gone before you showed up here) had in his signature: The truth only hurts if it should.

Good luck attaining your goals. I hope one of them is growing up.

Yup doing the CFII as the initial just heard the failure rate has gone up to 96%. I relally like instruments and it comes much easier to me. So I think it would be a better idea to take it first. Honestly though I'm not going to walk in and set myself up for failure by saying I don't think I'm guna pass when I know can. But when I pass it will be well earned.

As for avbug I have recieved plenty of PM's about the guy and lets say they were not positive.

If 96% of the CFII applicants are failing, SOMETHING is wrong. Are you saying that only 4% pass at the school you're at? This sounds like either poor instruction, unprepared students or a sadistic examiner. Personally, I would find another program.

No the Chicago FSDO at Dupage has a 96% failure rate. That's across the board from applicants all over the chicagoland area. I thought it was 80% but apparantly its gone up in the last few weeks.
