Pilotyip bragging about making 100K at age 34 flying around in a POS dc9 or da20 all night long, plus being a "check airman" (READ: we are too F'n cheap to de real training)...HAHAHAHA

Hello!

There are plenty of us younger than that making more than that who have very good jobs (and 4 yr degrees) -- imagine that...
And we certainly are NOT industry standouts.

Dont ever skip the degree. Its just a simple qualification these days. Anything less with keep you out of 95% of availiable jobs. You can fly like Chuck Yeager and have 24 type ratings at age 30 but without a simple piece of paper you are in the garbage can.

The choice is yours.

He isn't 34, he is "around 60"...

ooopss...dumb me.
guess that college WAS a waste of time and money....

caught again.

:(

Hey ... some pretty hot chicks in those colleges ... :D

Seems like a good idea to have a degree to fall back on if you don't make it flying.

You're not kidding! I can't walk across campus without muttering "Holy f*ck!" under my breath at least several times. I just can't figure out why none of these chicks ever seem to be in the physics department. :p

So how about you just go to flight school get all your ratings, work as a CFI to pay the bills while you are in college..all the while bulding time..and contacts...when you get that entry level 135/121 job take online classes to finish that degree while you are on reserve and overnights..that way when you graduate youve got the PIC turbine..youve got contacts that are way better than a bunch of Aviation college grommets who are all scrambling for that 18k a year "dream" job...If that 2002 high school grad starts that way hes stil got 6 years to get that worthless/pricesless degree in Aviation Uselessnes Management..Cause you all know someone without a degree is most certainly an infrerior pilot to one with a degree, I mean how could 1000 tubine PIC flying in the REAL world ever compare to a 10 hours of CRM training in a cozy RJ sim at some over priced aviation college.

Hearing all the positive info sure does give inspiration to my studies and flying!

I will add that USAJET is an option for the older pilot trying to gain that PIC Turbine time.

He can go to a regional and make a whopping 17K or go to USA JET and make double that. With USAJET he will also know what his domicle will be so he wont have to be in a crashpad while his family is 3 states away.

Doesnt sound like too bad of a deal to me

Thanks son

Not really my son. But also remember at USA Jet a 4 yr degree carries no weight in the screening process, because it has no bearing on a candidate success in traininig, and upgrade to Captain.

Ah degrees again?...
Like a broken record... Yawn...

Maybe I should merge this thread with the "Lowering the already low bar" thread and change the name to "Lowering the already low bar of the American Education Level"  :(

Now there's a thought! Maybe we need a rule on this site that prevents the Johnny One Note posters from going on and on ...and on. Islandflyer comes to mind. Haven't heard from Ductleak for a while. Maybe he got his interview at last...NOT!

People never cease to amaze me. To hear someone actually say they didn't learn or get anything after going through 4 years of college level education is just too pathetic. He11, if I was clobbered on the head by a one-legged purple monkey wearing panties while walking through a New York suburb I would still be able to say I've learned something.

And to use examples of people like Bill Gates as an example of not needing to go to college in order to further your smarts is also just too pathetic and ignorant. Gee, by using that logic maybe I still have a chance at getting into the NBA since so many of the players are drop-outs as well.
