Calls for 2 Aug class at SWA

Two friends and I got called for the 2 Aug class. Interview dates 21st of April (for two of us) and 3 May for the other.

Fellas, I am waiting for the July DB results to go out later this month. What is the continue part & how long before you are placed iin the shallow pool to wait for a class date.

We've kicked that around between my friends and I, and we don't think there is any rhyme or reason to it. Did you interview with Lama?

I was called for the Aug 2 class but cannot get out of the AF until early September. I interviewed April 15. The person I talked to mentioned that there is probably only one class in August and then they may take September off and start up again in October. Nothing solid, but it sounds like that is what is on the docket for the next three months. Hope to see you all there soon!!

How long after them starting the background checks did they get back to you with a class date? I met the June board also and they started the checks around the 22nd.

Inquiring Minds Want To Know:

I'm waiting for the July DB, but I have a question for you folks who have made it through all of the hurdles. When the People Dept. folks called your contact list, did they also call your letter writers (specifically those that wrote letters but weren't on your contact list)?

My contacts were called, letter writers were not. Start class Jul 19th.

I don't know for sure about letter writers. If they are SWA pilots who wrote letters, and they did an online recommend, then they will not be called. If they just wrote a letter with no online LOR, then they will get called, I think.

I interviewed on April 15, contacts called the next week. Called Wednesday after May decision board, and the call last week for the Aug 2 class date was the first I heard from SWA since the "move you forward in the process" call. Hope that helps.

Jetdude, they called both my letter writers and my contacts. I had 7 letters and 3 contacts, though I have been at the same job for 7 years. I interviewed on 12 May and got "the call" on 22 June. Yeahhhh!!!! Waiting for the next call for when I can expect training. Fly safely,

Interview Date v. Type Rating Date

I interviewed 07 April and made it on the 05 May DB. My interview group starts class on 19 July. I did not finish my type until 23 May. I am officially in the pool, but they take the latest of the two dates...Interview date....B737 type date whichever is last. I still do not have a class date.

Probably not much of a break. More of a catch up/breather for the training dept and people dept. Classes are supposed to resume in October starting every other Monday and continue for quite a while.

My guess for the break in classes and interviews is because of training center schedule. They have one sim (a -300) down for upgrades to the software and the sim periods are full.

I have heard that the pool is starting to fill up and that the break in interviews for Aug is to give the interviewers a breather. We still have a lot of planes coming before the end of the year. I think I read somewere that by the end of this year there will be almost as many -700s as there are -300s. For someone who flies out of Dallas and Houston, this good because I pretty much only see -500s, -300s, and the occasional -200.

For those that are in the pool, Congrats and get ready for some fun.

I've been here almost a year and half, and I'm having a blast. It doesn't seem like work when it's this much fun. Not to say it doesn't have it's moments.

For those about to interview or reinterview, stay positive and do your best, it's worth it.
