this was in the Continental MEC Chairmans update.

Wilson Polling Center also conducted a separate telephone poll of the CAL pilots that included questions about the Age 60 rule. The majority of the CAL pilots indicated there was no interest in advocating change to the Age 60 rule. Results of that poll were discussed yesterday with your elected representatives. Subsequently, the MEC passed a resolution giving me direction to convey the CAL pilots’ position in the event action is proposed at the Executive Board.

I think the UAL pilots said the same thing, KEEP THE AGE 60 RULE. As far as the DL pilots, I think we are awaiting our poll results. I voted to keep the rule---heck yeah.

Bye Bye--General Lee

General Lee,

This came from the www.apaad.com website.

Today, May 9th, ORD UAL 777 Captain Larry Cabeen introduced an Age 60 Rule Resolution at Council 12's LEC meeting in Chicago, United's largest domicile. Captain Cabeen made the primary presentation. After debate, it was passed by an overwhelming vote to support the call to change ALPA National Policy on Age 60.

Shortly after the meeting, UAL Captain Warren Jepson stated that "Captain Cabeen's presentation was dynamic, that Council 12 is the largest UAL council and to pass this resolution is extremely impressive."

Additionally, Captain Cabeen, a highly respected 35 year UAL veteran made an informative presentation highlighted with his personal perspective and was met with the respect and interest. Attendees were surprised by the support received from many younger pilots for this resolution.

ORD LEC PASSED THE RESOLUTION!

Thank you, Captain Cabeen!

Just wanted the record to show what "some" of the UAL folks are saying. I'm sure there are other UAL pilots who differ with their MEC in Denver & fellow pilots there...don't know what other domiciles have said though.

I don't believe the CAL pilots will ever agree on anything!

65 and flying at XJT! I don't think the ERJ has that long of a shelf life! The grass IS greener on the other side! I do hope the type pays off for you!

On Thursday, the United MEC met in special session to consider taking a position on the Age 60 Rule. The following resolution was passed by the United MEC:

BE IT RESOLVED, the United MEC supports the current policy requiring pilot retirement at age 60.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the UAL-MEC directs the Master Chairman to use all appropriate resources to seek changes to the PBGC and Social Security rules that negatively impact a pilot’s retirement at age 60.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, should the current FAA retirement age change, prior to implementation of any such modification, the United MEC directs the Master Chairman to use all appropriate resources to seek resolution of the following issues:

 •
Medical Certification Requirements

To preserve all current retirement rights under the CBA and IRS rules, and to make necessary adjustments to CBA, IRS, Social Security and PBGC rules in order to accommodate any change in the retirement age.
 • Disposition of any Grandfather rights
ALPA's Executive Board, which is comprised of all MEC Chairs of ALPA-represented carriers, is expected to discuss the union's position on Age 60 at its May meeting next week in Washington, D.C.

Shouldn't even be up for argument - keep it at 60.

I mean, heck, look at the life span of airline pilots once they retire!

Goodluck changing Social Secuirty, even though this makes sense. Why would the gov't change these, it will cost them more money vs letting the employees work 5 more years and save money themselves to make up for the PBGC loss.
