I would continue to feast on the LUCRATIVE real estate market in Southeast Tejas! I mean come on have you seen how nice the community is out at The Woodlands. All the golf courses and steak houses one could ever want in life. Anybody with a speck of your talent could sell that goldmine to the many rich folk looking to relocate to exciting Houston! It's obvious you should take a leave of absence and focus every bit of energy on becoming a mini mogul in scenic Southeast Texas.
This little job that some of your colleagues call a 'career' will always be here. And since you already live in THE growing base (unlike those fools that bought a house within 3 hours drive of EWR), you know you will never be forced to commute hub-hub. So take a breather and build your empire for a few years. Next thing you know you'll be senior enough to bid reserve IAH 777 FO! No EWR DH's for that elite crowd!
If you go the 73 you are going to have to fly and overnight in EWR way too much. Sorry it works this way, but the fine boys in Flight Ops think this is for the best. Just remember if you get tired of some rat hole hotel in Elizabeth (the exact opposite of Conroe) to keep your persepective positive. After all Big Boss Fred said putting up IAH crews in EWR hotels to cover EWR flying is a minimal cost problem. Aye, Aye Captain Fredrick!!!
Actually, you are correct, the real estate market here is good. I listed another bank property on Thursday and had a full price offer Friday, it is crazy.
Jut got another bank listing in Spring, TX. It last sold for 1.4 mil in 2006, but I think it is only worth 600k or so, probably was a loan fraud deal back then.
Anyways, I like the EWR overnight, it is actually a good hotel. I don't like the Atlantic crossings at all!!! I hate the jet lag and being that far from home I guess.
