Business Week: Double Digit Inflation in 2009 (bye bye more jobs)

Business Week says stagflation in full bloom in 2009. Low Cost Mfg in China will no longer be able to bail out the good old USA. This will have serious effect on airline travel in the coming years, as carriers will be forced to pare capacity even further....as consumerism will be reduced to a nub of it's former self.

Now that's funny, I hope that You were actually joking?? Obama's economic policies will actually make things worse; higher taxes, fees and regulation will increase the 'cost' of operating in the U.S. and drive more business and thus 'jobs' overseas.

Regardless of what he says to 'get elected' make no mistake that Obama is from the 'central planning' model of gov't/business; meaning that he believes that gov't should 'tell/direct' business in how to operate, what they should do and how they should run their business. Central Planning is just one minor step short of 'socialism/nationalization' of business/industry.

Gonna be interesting, to say the least.

Liberal or Conservative, we need to get our Country back on track. Maybe it's cause I'm getting older, but let me tell you something, I've never had such worries about my future (career, healthcare, income, food, fuel, you name it.) and it's making me feel ill daily.

I'm with you on most of what you say, but I think Obama takes us closer and closer to what worries you. Freedom, individualism etc is what we used to be all about, now it's anything but. Neither party cares about that stuff anymore, just broken promises and symbolism over substance. Count the number of times you hear Obama say 'freedom' or 'individual' in his nest speech.

Good one! Nothing like adding a trillion dollars of entitlements while simultaneously raising capital gains taxes to fight inflation!

We have become a Socialist Democracy, not a Republic as our forefathers envisioned.

...and to make matters worse, you know how much FREEDOM and PRIVACY we are losing because of something so wonderful? - I'm talking about the internet. It's a revolutionary tool but it has it's dangers. I won't bother ringing the alarms but y'all know what I'm taking about. More and more personal transactions, communications and dealings are being handled via this mode. It will only increase. Our society is moving towards a dependency of the internet for basic to complex purposes. Cyber crime will increase and so will government monitoring. My understanding is that the internet infrstructure was not designed to handle the enormity of what the world wide web has become. It WILL be revamped and aligned with the governments CONTROL of how they see things fit. It will be made more secure (criminals only get smarter, anyhow) and be designed to handle more trafffic in a more secure and efficent way. It will also lend itself to more unwelcomed Big Brother-like tactics. It's not only the government, but corporations like Google, etc. are in on the big bucks potential the internet is inevitably going to foster.
