Apparently DanW's poor excuse for a flight school is suffering a very slow death and he has hired a poor excuse for an airline executive to help him revive it.

are you surprised? Dan W. is a crook, I don't care what he did for ASA pilots when he was here.

I know several good people that came through Falcon, and I don't want to see anyone lose a job, but I'll have a smile on my face the day he and his company fail.

No I am not surprised. I know people that left 15 year careers to go work for that snake and little by little they are all getting fired. And I am not so sure he did much for pilots at ASA either. I don't want to see good people lose their jobs either. Having said that, the day he goes out of business it will be a good day, specially if BL contributes to its destruction.

just found him on Clayton State's website as a professor of Administration and Technology Management. That's funny

Do you know if MJ is still there or did she get fired too? I wish she never left the CPO, her replacement is worthless.

Dan never forgets someone who does him wrong, and he pays it back.


So, if his biz is struggling and he needs to shrink the overhead, he should keep people on anyway? Please explain your rational.

If you knew why he was firing these people, then you would understand. This isn't something to be discussed on a public forum though... It's well known that DW's moral character is less than stellar. I know a lot of people like the man and he's done some good things, but I have seen the crooked side of him too.
 
A quote from DW....."You junior guys need to respect the senior guy's sacrifices, plus they have more time inside the middle marker than you have total time". I loved that. I instantly hated DW the entire time I was at ASA. He's a prick.

Heard that Louisa G. quit after DW caused problems w/ her family. Something about hitting on her daughter. And there's the 'party' at ASA he threw for his ASA gf that caused him his VP gig.......

Yeah I knew about that whole goat rope with Louisa. And how he wasn't totally fired after what he pulled at ASA is beyond me. The real jacked up story is how his long time book keeper got the ax. Like I said earlier though, not really fit for public discussion.

I've been personally affected by this jerk's underhanded business dealings and employee treatment. I know karmas a b!tch too, and I'm glad to see he might finally get what's coming to him.

Oh, and SLUF4 tell your friend their money would be well spent at any of the other numerous flight schools around the area. Falcon has nice new planes and all, but I'd have a hard time sending a friend to cough up a couple grand to line the pockets of its crooked owner.
 
I had a bad experience with falcon.

Took out a loan. Paid it all to the school so I had a huge credit. My instructor would log 1.2 or so in my log book...but I started to notice...that I would be billed for 1.5. It was always a little more. Never enough to really stand out.... but slowly chipping away at my balance.

Also, a couple of times they threw in admin fees for no reason (explained it had to do with sallie mae funding)...total BS because I took the loan from Sallie so it was a cash payment to him.

But what sealed the deal for me....3 or 4 times my instructor canceled on me last min (one time I was already at the airport) because he would have the opportunity to fly a king air or lear. I was cool with it. I understood he was airline bound just like I was... it was a chance for some good experience.

Once I had to cancel a lesson because I was sick. Canceled 2 hours out. I was charged 1 hour airplane and 1 hour instructor.

I understand policy...but always felt it was a slap in the face. I didn't argue it. Cashed out my account. Chalked it up as a life lesson.

Went to Skymates in Dallas. Did everything I needed (mulit stuff) in 3 days at a fraction of the price. Treated really well while I was there.

If you decide to go there...hold tight to your wallet! Also, rumor is, is that business is a little shaky right now. I would make sure I paid as I go. Wouldn't dare have any credits with him.

He was actually lucky he did not end up in prison over that what he pulled at ASA.

But here is more:

A friend of mine who was working there discovered some of their students were falsifying their logbooks, seriously pumping up their solo time. He brought it to DWs attention. He decided to look the other way. My friend, trying to protect the school, politely disagreed. He was fired the next day.

DWs partner, R, is a CFI there. I have been told by many people that he pretty much bought his CFI certificate. I have heard that that guy is an accident waiting to happen.

If you are involved with Flcn and want to apply to ASA, you have to go through DWs. If a Flcn employee or student applies at ASA on his/her own, bypassing DWs, he/she will not get a call.

I have heard about DWs promising the world to their employees in the form of "scholarships" or some other way, and when he has had enough of them he will terminate them.

I know a few women, that if they wanted to act upon it, they would most likely have a good sexual harrasment case against DWs. The only reason they haven't done anything about it is because they are certain Flcn is pretty much dead.

The list goes on and on...

"Airline bound." Sorry for getting a little off topic, but I remember when I would have excused that kind of behavior... "it's great experience." Now, there's no way that would fly. I wouldn't do that to someone, and I wouldn't allow that to be done to me.

In any case, the shine has definitely come off the airline job for me. An airplane is an airplane is an airplane; there's nothing really that special about them.

But then again, it beats actually working for a living.
 
Yes. I agree with you. It was certainly not a professional way to treat your student.

But the instructor was a nice guy. My point was simply that I tried to be kind and understanding. But it was a one way street with those guys.
 
I hear stories from very credible sources about how foreign students are abused "because he can" and the kids have no recourse. Fight back = get deported.

DW has had some good teachers in bad management at ASA.

To hear BLB went from "National" airline President to Flight School manager is fitting, although he's probably not up to that job either. All he needs is Gary H to make that place a perfect trifecta.
