.....Imacdog, you and I are on the same page. While general statements/observations are acceptable, publicly re-hashing, in detail, an old issue that has been resolved is not appropriate nor productive.

The 411 was mostly about crewfood!! obviously both groups value a good labor-management relationship. Management values a good relationship when they can get something from labor.
Its not a joke ... that's the way things are accounted for. You can look it up yourself... in an accounting dictionary. I did when I wanted to know what Mark to market (MTM) accounting was.Gun please tell me this is a joke. You now have an asset that is worth half the amount of the loan. Having a million airplane types (SWA has one and has been profitable for 37 consecutive years, want to name any other business that flies airplanes that can say that?), setting up three operational companies with three air carrier certificates, with four locations of operations (New Jersey, Okatie, CMH, BDL) just for the U.S. Market. Not a chance..Probably one of the 1st things he looked at....Our payscale, the rest of the industry, and boom...we make too much...
I expect some sort of attack on the contract shortly....The first step towards management gratification is the reduction in crew meals..Not a huge deal, but to some it will drive them nuts..It will turn to crappy hotels which can only be grieved, shorter overnights, longer days, pilots will start to get miserable (about as miserable as me talking about NJA). Then there will be the furlough talk heightened and after that will be an altimatum(sp?) reduce the wages or we'll have to lay more guys off.
I've seen it before..Management personel comes to recurrent spewing talk of staffing, layoffs, throws a few charts up, and boom, rumor started, fear heightened, people yelling at each other..senior pilots telling junior how it's gonna be. Junior telling senior they don't know what it's like.. Pilot group split...Man feels like I've seen this before.

Every single time you write anything you embarrass the heck out of him, but this takes it to a whole new level and sets a new standard.

For over three years I've said that "industry leading contracts" never are successful when they are so out of whack with the rest of the industry. It didn't happen in 121 and it sure as heck won't happen in the fractional world. I predicted two layoffs before the contract would be opened, and the first one was voluntary, the second one wasn't. The contract will be opened at some point soon, and the numbers will be coming back to reality.
And you are 100% right, none of this is magical, it just cycles with the industry. Unions never learn from their mistakes. The few "successful" contracts out there are heavily based on profit sharing as they should be so they remain fluid within the industry. NJ contract isn't like that, and the only way to fix it is to open it back up again.
