The 190/195 seats plenty to replace the -9. The 170/175 are "right-sized" to get around scope, much the same way the 135 and 140's came to be (35 and 44 seats). I am curious to see how the C- series performs. The geared turbofan will be impressive if it does as advertised, but personally I think the gearing mechanism will become a maintenance headache. It is essentially a ducted turboprop, and a reduction gearbox is just one more moving part under stress that can fail. That said, I hope it all works out. I am a supporter of innovation and invention, and I look forward to the next big thing in aviation.
 
A 70/76/86/90 seater at a "regional" would be the largest, and therefore most senior and highest-paying airframe on that property.

A 70/76/86/90 seater at mainline would be the smallest, and therefore least senior and lowest-paying airframe on that property.

Why people can't keep that in perspective when making the "mainline is undercutting the regionals!" argument is beyond me...

Your statements are facts. However, it is also a fact that your pay scale undermined established rates and fell below their benchmark--no matter who flies them! That made no sense! And to beat Joe Merchant to the punch, Duane Woerth signed off on that concessionary contract--shame on him, as he lives on his triple dipping retirement income.

When your pilot group negotiates rates on your fleet in the future, do you think they will try to build on the highest industry rate, or will they negotiate rates less than the industry standard? The question is not rhetorical!

I don't think that the larger c Series or 190/195 aircraft if chosen would go to Compass, it would go to mainline due to scope restrictions.

There are pay rates for them in the new DAL/NWA Joint CBA. The rates of pay are much less than the DC9.
 
I hope this isn't another example of how you scream and yell that someone else's speculation is not supported by current facts but in a couple months it turns out to be true. I hope this for everyones sake.

Since this thread has been revived I thought I'd remind you of your dumb post. The facts are...my info received from FACTS by NWA/DAL MEC's and the new management team are turning out to be true. Your "speculation" supported by "current facts" is turning out to be wrong SPECULATION supported by nothing but stupidly wild guessing. :p
 
Too bad the c-series won't fly in the airlines for another five years, too late for a nine replacement in my opinion.

Turning out to be wrong? Nothing has happened in the past couple months, nor was it forcast to. If your MEC turns out to be right (and they usually are about 50% of the time) you will be fine. If prevailing market conditions dictate the future of the new Delta you'll be looking for a job down at Home Depot.

The only ones who know the 12 month future of Delta are a small group of executives. Once this merger is approved and no obstacles remain the real truth will show itself. I don't see it being very pretty for the employees. Mergers never are regardless of how many promises are made.

If your MEC turns out to be right (and they usually are about 50% of the time) you will be fine. If prevailing market conditions dictate the future of the new Delta you'll be looking for a job down at Home Depot. That can be said for EVERYONE in this industry! So far things are working out as smooth as can be expected, but there will be some bumps with the SLI. Either way, the SLI will be done by NOV 20th, PERIOD!

Mergers are never very pretty, but hopefully we can buck that trend. So far it seems to be going that direction. I'm not naive, but you have to trust(but verify) both MEC's and management's progress. If any group doesn't follow through then it will have lost the little trust that has been gained so far. This has the potential to be a great combination if it happens like our MEC's and management say.

The MEC has been pretty reliable with the info they've put out recently.

The upper management isnt even sure what the next 12 months will hold, I can guarantee you that. The plan is quite flexible to say the least.
