You're an idiot you don't know the first thing about the guard club or pilot school back in those days. Really why don't go you protest a war or attend a sit in you tool.

Yeah he miraculously pulled a UPT slot in the Texas ANG to play fighter pilot while other qualified pilots that would love to fill that slot got to hang out in Vietnam and get shot at. Other kids his age got to go live in the mud.

He also neglected to fulfill his ANG obligation.

On behalf of beleaguered FO's everywhere: SHUT UP!! Just Shut-up!!!

You know, all I really want to do is just go to work and do my job as professionally and exact as possible. I don't mind a pleasant conversation mixed in as well. I am interested in your life, your toys, heck you can even show me your family photos. But I don't give a rats *ss who you think I should vote for, and I really don't need multi-day 8 hour lectures on your views.

First of all you are a 50 something year old white male airline captain, and you think I don't know whom you think I should vote for? You think that I don't know that the 2 most important issues in my life are your pension (so I now dutifully sit in the right seat for an extra 5 years) and protecting the income at your tax bracket?

You think that an informed voter is one who spends their day off in the following way: Get up and watch the Fox morning show, then listen to conservative talk radio for the afternoon, watch the Fox evening news, then hurry up and read your political blast mails from conservative watch dog groups, peruse the internet for the Republican talking points of the day, then spend the evening with Glen Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Shaun Hannity, and do it all over again the next day.

Why is it that a shift manager at McDonalds, a toy department manager at Walmart, a supervisor at Jiffey Lube can go to work and do their job without trying to make the world over in their political image but a college educated, professional like you can't supervise a crew of 8 and keep your ugly opinions to your self? Obama this, Obama that. Four years ago it was Kerry this, and Kerry that.

What a joy it is to see you pick up the USA Today or any other available periodical and watch you shake your head violently, listen to you bitch about liberal reporters, and declare global warming to be a hoax (like evolution I am sure). I even witnessed, with my own eyes, one of these same captain demographics get angry and yell at the television in our crew room when a History Channel documentary was talking about global warming on another planet. Sheesh. Enough with the anger oh displaced Teutonic former master of the universe.

Fellow airman, I too feel passionate about some things, but I also realize that some of those topics are very divisive. I have studied the topics of religion/folklorism/mythology for many years and you can be assured that many of my conclusions about the nature of religion is quite against most peoples' grain. So guess what I don't do? I don't bring it up at work. I save it for certain friends that share my views and don't expect the whole world to comport to my viewpoint through incessant nagging.

I understand that I work in a safety sensitive area, that crew coordination is of the up most import, and bringing up issues like politics can lead to major disputes and lead to a lack of harmony and syncopation between the working crew members. In my case, I am not going to get into an argument about politics, but it sure is a shot to my quality of life for up to 6 days having to listen to your rhetoric. I didn't come to work to be educated by you on the evils of liberals, please leave it at home and discuss amongst your friends.

Thank you.

Nice!

And F Ted Stevens, too.

I hope his wrinkled ass rots in jail.

That's a nice utopian view of things, but it doesn't work in the real world. Like it or not, sometimes a little government involvement is necessary.

You missed the point. Everytime the gubment starts regulating "a little" it ends regulating a lot. I want as little gov involvement as possible. Just let me make my own decisions and live with the outcome. I centainely don't need a politician to help and hold my hand.

First, I don't go for "slippery slope" arguments. Sometimes it's true, sometimes it's not. Second, you and I would probably be just fine without government involvement in our lives, but others can't say the same. Some people need a little more help than others. I know not to accept a loan that I can't afford, but some people are uneducated and gullible enough to believe that if a lender will qualify them for it, then they can afford it.

It's people like you who want to bring back the fairness doctrine to talk radio because the liberals can't compete there.

And we should pay for their ignorance? Many of these people have been living in massive debt for their entire adult lives. It is just now catching up with them.

If a company lied they should be screwed. I don't believe that most did lie. I think some people are looking for a hand out.

I despise the so-called "fairness doctrine" and believe that it violates the first amendment. Unlike the zealots from both parties, I actually respect the entire Constitution and not just the parts that are convenient to me.

And we should pay for their ignorance?

By "paying for it" I assume you're talking about the recent bail-out. Unfortunately, we have no choice. To refuse to bail them out would result in a multi-trillion dollar default that would destroy not just our own economy, but the world economy. We allowed it to get to this point by refusing to implement regulation, so now we have to fix it. If you want to avoid another bail-out in twenty years, then you should support common-sense regulation that will prevent these sorts of fiascos. Completely unfettered capitalism is just as dangerous as socialism and results in just as many failures.

It's not a matter of whether they lied, it's a matter of whether they engaged in reasonable business practices. When you lend someone money knowing with virtually 100% certainty that they won't be able to pay you back under the terms of the loan, then you aren't behaving ethically. It needs to be regulated.

Sheesh, now you're speaking evenly and making sense...what the heck is this board coming to?

Not to hijack, but the beginning of this thread put all the preachiness on capts, well, I'm in the left seat and am continually astounded by the same political antics of those I fly with in the right seat. It's not just captains my friends, oh no. I'm assuming they are parroting their daddy's views which get refreshed whenever they leave the trip and go home.

From my viewpoint the religious fanatics and conservative fanatics adhere to the Amway model. Want to reach 'neocon wholesaler' level? Than you MUST convert xx number of liberals! Want to be a 'right-wing christian distributor'? Than you MUST bring xx number of heathens into the flock. Seriously, it's all a big pyramid scheme. I want to join the political party and the religion that will just shut the hell up already!

Ahhh yes. Overzelous, Faux News-watching Captains are all over the place here. At this particular asylum lots of them still think they're Soulja Boy even though they've been out for years. What equates airline flying or prior military flying to being some sort of political robot escapes me, but in the words of my teenager; "whatever."

Here's the thing Caps, how about we just move the machine, get paid, and leave the rest of the stuff to your local Evangelical thumper get together (or Sierra club weirdness depending on your POV).

Read a magazine, pick your nose, or just stare out the window like David Puddy. I simply don't want to hear some guy pontificate from either side of the political aisle. And while we're at it, keep the personal crap to yourself as well. Not interested.

Right on Kugelblitz! Great post.
