 Polar guys/gals, good luck with everything. I do hope to work there someday, but who knows? If there is a picket line, I would be glad to walk it with you folks anytime! God Bless!

Screwed up situation, good luck guys. I'd swear some of these executives get together in Aspen on a weekend getaway and swap notes.

Thanks for all the kind words and yes unfortunately it seems the next batch will be terminated Monday and join the C23 (one resigned before he got fired). Hopefully we'll all get through this and get ALL the new hires back. We'll know in approx 18days, and if we have to walk, so be it!

Thks again for the moral support guys and gals.

(forget 410, bait...)

I don't think we will be hearing too much from 410dude anymore. ;)

Good luck Polar guys/gals. Your only hope is for ALPA to file an injunction....but we all know they won't do that. It wouldn't cost them anything, and they wouldn't lose a thing. Since ALPA National is in the pocket of Erickson and Cato.....dont plan on it...

How many are in the next batch?

Was heading down to MIA to do simulator training in June. KPIT-KMIA and there was a US Airways pilot onboard who I spoke with. He just resigned after 21 years at US Airways and was 100 from the bottom on the US Airways seniority list.

He said he just got hired by Polar and was going to the right seat of the
B747-400.

Does anyone know by class dates how deep the firing will go?

Just a thought, I would look at other pilot groups who left the cockpit. It might give the Polar pilot group an idea on the right course of action.

Thanks and Good Luck to the Polar and Atlas Pilots.

CWI

Good luck to all the long-haul freight guys at Polar/Atlas!

410 is a tool and looks like he was GIA PFT. Just ignore him!

Did someone find out who he is?

Concerning 410dude, I hope somebody found out who he is. Me thinks he must have benn dropped on his head one too many times as a child.

To the Polar/Atlas guys, the best of luck to ya! If you do any picketing in ORD, let us all know. Some of us at AWAC will come out to support you.

Rekks

No i'm not kidding. It's been my dream since i started to fly to fly a 747 and i'll be danged if i'm going let anything get in my way of fulfilling that dream.

Here's a few things that 410 can look forward to if he does this...
Never ever being hired at any other airline,
being denied jumpseats,
busting checkrides,
ending up hauling checks in a lance till
doomsday after xxx number of busted rides
(Because you got fired from the company that
you were so ready to help).

Don't do it. Yeah, it seems like a good idea
now. This is a smaller business than you think
and if you do it your career is effectively over.

Ask around if you don't believe me...

Oh yeah, there are lots of more qualified
and equally enthusiastic people out there
wanting that job at polar...that can't seem
to get a foot in the door.

If you are really "dreaming of the majors" you
need to find out how it is done and play by
the rules or you are going to be in really
deep kimchee. I've watched your type too
many times. Got your stuff in at the
alter-egos yet?

My friends at Polar,

Hang tough! Good Luck and best wishes!

CWI, probably something like 28 tomorrow unfortunately.

And the guy you met was definitely in the C23, ALL 400 newhires were terminated, only on resigned before he got the letter.

28 tomorrow? Is this conspiracy-type thinking or for real? 28 more people would wipe out five people I know at Polar...!! :(

It will probably happen.

If ALPA would just file an injunction against this violation of status quo these people would not be terminated tomorrow. But they refuse to do so. It appears the furloughees are being sold down the river....again....

Never ever being hired at any other airline,

aren't there quite a bunch at Continental?

busting checkrides,

Yeah, I know an Eastern Scab, he's now an FAA Examiner in Naples Florida, busting students on checkrides... $250 a pop. Does that count? He's also flying a CJ1 for a private owner, now probably making much more than the Eastern Pilots he scabbed out of a job.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like scabs, but is it really still such a careerbuster?

Some will slip through the cracks, but or every guy like the one you mentioned, there are LOTS more that have ended their career.

One correction; One question

furloughfodder said:
Jim Cato is they guy in charge of labor relations at Atlas, and the firings were ordered by him and Denis Erickson.

The CEO is *Jeff* Ericson.

Question: Are probationary crewmembers protected by the CBA?

I understand during probation the company can terminate employment for any reason. Just wondering what recourse exists for probationary crewmembers.

I read the part about a class action law suit. Good luck to everyone.

I hope those manager mother*uckers burn in he((.

Is that because he scams $250 per private pilot? CJ1, well you know he is always looking up wishing, knowing that this is all the better it is going to get. So yes captain of a CJ1, yep that would be a career buster.

He is a pinnacle pilot and i think i know who he is. He talks about his posts often and is not ashamed of it. It will catch up with him soon. I also heard about his girlfriend. He is such a tool.

Please let us know this guys name. I am sure many of us look forward to meeting him if he tries to jumpseat. (Key word 'tries')

The calls went out today to fire the Classic folks.

That is correct. 15 more probationary crewmembers were wrongfully terminated this afternoon.

Wow - now that's hardball! Again, are these people then offered interviews at Atlas? What happens to current pilots in the Atlas pool - are they given preference over former Polar pilots now looking for positions at Atlas or will former Polar pilots be offered any slots at Atlas first?

It's a frustrating and confusing situation - good luck to everyone involved!

To Polar/Atlas: Our time is now! Our MEC's are united and we should be united!
Stay the course and stand together!

I find it interesting, all the comments of "how can they do this" etc etc, when in essence, the freight management is doing what it's always known how to do. They know there's ample supply of guys on the street, and here comes the intimidation. Again, look back in history and you'll see it, time and time again, yet the newbies to the industry, they are shocked.......oh well...

Mr. 6000 hour wonderboy who has been around the block huh? I hope you were not trying to say "told you so". Saying "oh well"... good luck in your future. Name one company that fired every probationary pilot.

no short thrust, that wasn't the jist of my post. the oh well was the new kids coming into the industry that are shocked by what what is going on at polar. Yes it sucks, but if you look back in the past of the non-sked world, it's not unheard of. Hell I know one company where the president walked in on a saturday, called in the HR person had had them send out furlough notices to HALF the pilots. so ya...I've seen it.... as to wonderboy, no, just did the nonsked world 727/dc8's for about 10 years...so yeah I've been around the block, though by no means as much as some of the guys out there

Anyways the post was more along the lines of, the new kids that came up through the schools, to the regionals and jumping to the big iron, and now they are shocked......

Oh and BTW I have 4 or 5 friends that have been at polar now for 4-7 yrs....so ya...it sucks.

Mr 6000 hour wonderboy hasn't got a clue. And, by the looks at what he thinks is a situation that should have been "expected" by the "new kids" (most of which probably have twice the experience as he), he has obviously been abused in his career. He may even qualify for management.

YEA, it sucks and it is not normal nor ethical for this to happen.

Another thing....I love it when people qualify themselves by saying things like.."jumping from the regionals to the big iron". An airplane is an airplane dude. We're all trainable and frankly, the "big iron" is alot easier to fly than the "little iron". We're all impressed with your ability!
