You know, I'm a Reagan "slap-ee" -- and even I think you're an idiot.

Pilots..not only our own worst enemy, but everyone elses too.81Horse said:You know, I'm a Reagan "slap-ee" -- and even I think you're an idiot.
Let's see ... we have a thing called a LAW. You knew it before you became a controller. It said you cannot shut down the entire US air system because you didn't get your way in contract talks (i.e., you cannot have a nationwide temper tantrum and hold the country hostage). Reagan warned you... you puffed out your chests and the rest is history.81Horse said:You know, I'm a Reagan "slap-ee" -- and even I think you're an idiot.

If it wasn't foolish, then what did you gain? You said you knew what you were doing ... what exactly WERE you doing then? Quitting your job while under a spotlight? What exactly did you gain? What did you prove? Should the US public be sympathetic to your extortionist plight? I'm glad you had your arses handed to you ... talk about out of control egos!81Horse said:And BTW, I didn't make a foolish decision. I knew what I was doing.
Military? You are just pissed Uncle Sam signs fatter checks for the guys behind the scope....Big Beer Belly said:If it wasn't foolish, then what did you gain? Military? I'm a 121 captain at one of the highest paying airlines... try again little man.gkrangers said:Military? You are just pissed Uncle Sam signs fatter checks for the guys behind the scope....
Profile, but besides that, it was a shot in the dark at being intentionally inflammatory.Big Beer Belly said:Military? I'm a 121 captain at one of the highest paying airlines... try again little man.
A law was in place. You broke it. You had a "hissy-fit" then and now because your HUGE EGO believes you are ABOVE the law!
You made a foolish, huge-ego, poor decision. End of story.

You sound like one of those bend over and like it types tho.
Big Beer Belly said:Hey boy wonder behind the scope... how many years have you put in serving your country? Oh never mind ... you wouldn't have a clue what our fine young military men/women do every day in the service of this great country. Hint: it involves a hell of a lot more RISK than falling off your ATC stool!

Problem is "Hold" is full of crap. In 20+ years of flying military/121 NEVER have I been told how many miles I can expect to be turned to a base. His is purely an "academic" answer ... truth is it NEVER happens in the real world. Thus, you have numerous guys ALL contradicting him and expressing the same thought. I'd rather be told more information in order to plan an efficient descent/arrival than kept in the dark (which is standard operating procedure for most primadonna ATC "specialists".) These guys coordinate traffic ... nothing more.
We need Reagan to slap the big egos down again! :smash:

So, in reference to the Regan bitch-slap, I say (to quote the current president): "Bring it on!"
Hold West said:- but don't bloviate about your service to your country from your air conditioned cockpit at 35,000 feet. Pin some crossed rifles on your collar, or maybe a globe & anchor on your blouse and we'll talk.
unreal said:Absolutely. Now that the FAA's proposed contract has a 99.9999% chance of being imposed, I'm punching out for sure. Thing is, a lot of people I graduated with are doing the very same. I know many that are going back to flying (myself included), and a few that are simply going to go explore other career paths. At least at Mt. SAC, the knee-jerk reaction to this new contract was to get out and get out quick. If I were to make an educated guess, I'd say this was happening everywhere.
Good luck to the FAA I suppose. I brought up this question to the Regional Administrator of AWP when he visited Mt. SAC a month or so ago: "How is the FAA going to meet its hiring quota of 12,500 new controllers over the next 10 years, when under the new pay scale, many CTIs will simply reject the job offer?" His roundabout answer: "We don't forsee a problem."
More power to 'em.

bob loblaw said:Congrats, and welcome to the CFI club. I just read a thread where you were stressing over this ride. I know the outcome, but was it as bad as you thought?
Do you think none of us come over here?bob loblaw said:I created my first pilot on Wednesday! I have been a CFI for almost two years now and have close to 300 hours of dual given, yet he was my first sign-off. The next phase is instrument thru CFI/CFII/MEI.
Big Beer Belly said:... I hope the FAA shoves the bat up your A$$ with your new contract. ...

txpilot1_99 said:Hey Blah blah blah, how ya been? I thought you were a pilot? A flight instructor that had moved to a better job, but then wasn't getting many flight hours...now, you're a controller? LOL Good one.
At least change your avatar from the old one you had at the other site...does this post ring a bell:
Do you think none of us come over here?
For those curious, this is from another web site he was kicked out of. He said over there he was a former truck driver also...never mentioned ATC, or as he said "work traffic for the $$$"
He's going through the medical process (vision), and he'll be going to Houston center.unreal said:I'm don't really mean to defend anyone here, but from what I've seen from this guy's posts, he's simply a graduate of the CTI program at Mt. SAC, not a real FAA ATCS.
I'm a recent graduate of the same program, and I've also been a CFI for almost 2 years as well. I don't see anything fishy here, but then again, I don't have the whole picture.
