Actually I think he's going to SLC. Why do people get so worked up when a CP actually expects us to look 1/2 way decent at work?

It's one thing to have your uniform up to standards, it's another thing when the uniform nazi is outright mentally ill. There's a reason many DFW guys work all their problems through the ATL CPO's office.

Seriously though, this is a trying time for ASA. Not only are we losing a hub, but our contract talks have crumbled to nothing.

Give me a break! Out of the three in DFW he's the only one that will lift a finger (not the middle one) for any of us. Atlanta has the others so neutered, everything has to go through Nelson or Drew. He's a bit harsh sometimes, but he does look out for most of us.

Absolutely.

If I ever have an issue that needs a CP, he is the first one I look for.

He's very much on the pilots' side.

Cp

I have to agree with Ted Striker on the fact that he will help more than the other two, but it stops there.

He is the most unprofessional mgt. type I have witnessed in a long time. He does have a wierd way with humor, but dicipline people with the door closed when your peers can listen in.

He also looks for the ATL SIDA badge and gives the look up and down as if you have DD size breast and a tight a$$, all as a uniform inspection.

A Capt. from ATL said he was going through security recently and watched the CP on the other side looking for "NON Compliant" pilots while leaning up against the wall. That is beyond the call of duty.

Next time he points across the hall and motions to put your hat on, you should motion back with a rub of your belly, pull the suspenders with your thumbs, and follow with a thumbs down. That should make him happy.

A F/A told you this? I'd wait and verify this rumor.
After the 1730 briefing last night, Drew said they were expecting some resignations but were surprised that they had gotten 6 the first day, all captains I believe.

Even before this, they've been leaving at a good rate. I don't know how many, but quite a few have left since July 1.

FYI: Citationshares and Flexjet are hiring and both have Dallas gateways/bases. And Citationshares has 8/7 schedules meaning you can spend a lot of time in the beautiful state of Texas at a time....

This was on the MyASA web site

Will the company pay for my move if I am displaced to a new domicile?
Yes. ASA will pay moving expenses for pilots displaced to another domicile.

Do you think this domicile bid is going to come out on flica? Or is it going to be a paper thing?

I've been hoping for some movement off the top of the seniority list, but not for this reason.

The commute will be a nightmare since the only flights in and out of DFW will be from ATL, CVG or SLC. Atleast we could get creative and double commute through another outstation ATL-BTR-DFW and others like it.

Wish all you DFW folks the best of luck.

Airtran is expected to grow after Delta leaves. That may help the commute too. They have a "kind of" unlimited jumpseat. First person is free, then I think its $25 after that.

ASA needs to stay stong for the commuter clause. It needs to become standard issue in these days and times, when the only hub one can count on is the "fortress"

There will not be any BTR-DFW flights (or any other outstations).

Does this mean that ASA will lay off pilots, keep the ones they have, or keep hiring now that ASA is pulling out of DFW? I hear that 7,000 total will be laid off but does this include ASA pilots and F/A? Thanks.

Word from Skip and Drew is not only will there be no furloughs, but we will continue to hire. Deliveries are still on track for '05.

The number of A/C, pilots and FAs has not changed, they've just been moved around.

All subject to change of course.

I was scheduled for the Nov. 11th class and received a call from ASA yesterday....(my heartbeat stopped!!!)....they were calling to move my class up to Monday Nov. 8th.

So far at least training is still on!

I wish all the DFW ASA people the best of luck in this trying time.

Let's hope for the best for ASA and Delta.

Just wanted to say that I'm sorry to hear about the Delta/ASA closing of DFW. I know it's presumptious for me to say that I can even relate to what you are going through, but I truly wish you all the best of luck in these messed up times! I have had the priveledge to talk with a lot of ASA crews in the van in the morning and I have to say that you guys are some of the greatest and most friendly people I've met. Good luck to you!

re: hiring

I was told by a check airman yesterday that the training department has been told to expect 20/month through next year.

Things tend to change from minute to minute at ASA so take it for what it's worth.

I was mistaken about the pilots that quit at ASA. The number six was the number who bid SLC immediately. As far as I know, no pilots have quit, yet. A few rampers did walk off the job, but overall it's been business as usual at DFW.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. That being said the folks thinking about moving for a company about to file BK is well foolish IMHO. With that being said Ill See Ya L8tr fellow ASA aviators it was a blast while it lasted.

To the new hire kid being called to ASA class early, Congrats!
