The evil genius comment was a joke. I don't think Bryan is either evil or a genius. But I'm not persuaded that he is failing at his job, by the standards against which his boss judges him. I don't know why you guys keep taking your own unhappiness with the company as evidence that Bryan is failing at his job. This is not about the employees. Your happiness is way down on his list of issues. Stop taking this stuff personally. It's business.

ATRDriver, I'm not saying there aren't places to save money. The waste can be appalling. But the bottom line this past quarter says a lot about how the company is doing. As for the bags, your numbers are just plain wrong. ASA mishandles (delayed, lost, damaged, etc.) between 10,000 and 20,000 bags per month. It averaged around 17 per 1000 passengers for the first 6 months of this year (less than 1 per flight). If the average cost to forward a bag is $30 (it's probably half that), and all mishandles were delays that needed to be forwarded, the system-wide monthly cost is at most $600,000. That's a shocking amount of money, but I don't believe that at tenth of that is getting spent at CSG.

It's embarrassing to have by far the worst baggage handling record of any major airline in the US, but it is not clear that it is costing us customers, esp. since the only real customer is Delta and our continued contract with them is apparently not contingent upon our baggage numbers. Besides it's all about the money. It wouldn't surprise me if our fee for departure contract didn't pass along the cost of baggage mishandles back to the mainline.

Ohplease, I almost said in my previous post that I agreed with you on this point, but I wouldn’t want that to be misinterpreted. I draw some very different conclusions about what it means for the company's employees. The fact that Bryan is not the fool that some of the people on this board take him to be, does not mean that he is looking out for our interests as employees, or that the pilots should accede to his wishes. ASA was the most profitable regional in the industry last quarter, and, although there are risks and challenges ahead, it seems to me like the pilots are negotiating from a position of relative strength, if they are able to recognize it.

My numbers may be wrong, but they came to me from the station manager at CSG. And let's say that your number is correct, which I don't think it is (I believe it to be a lot higher). That is more then HALF A MILLION DOLLARS spent delivering bags that shouldn't have to be spent at all.

Just for fun, this last week I decided to re-read "From Worst to First", which if you don't know is the story of CALs turnaround under Bethune. If you took each problem that CAL had, and changed CAL to ASA, it would read as a perfect diagnosis of what is wrong with this company. The difference between them then and us now is that Bethune WAS A LEADER, and BL is a Neal. If you have not read this book I highly suggest it. Some of the ideas presented in it would work miracles around here, and the sad part is that they are not ground breaking ideas, they are just common sense and common decency. Too bad our management "team" has neither.

I'm just trying to raise your blood pressure enough to give you a stroke or a heart attack. Now, that would make my day.

With all the booze you drink and cigarettes you smoke LJ you should be the one to have a stroke or a heart attack. If you had a heart attack you would be out of luck. There is no way anyone would be brave enough to give you mouth to mouth. You could be faking it and just wanting to swap some spit.

He's one puff away from a heart attack anyway....Besides, how do you think LJ gets all his boyfriends!?

Just for the record 737, LJ is an older woman, who used to be a CP and MEC Vice Chair until she got fired from both those positions. She is Joey Merchant's older girlfriend, and now just a plain old line pilot.

VOTED IN FAVOR!

Another gem of a quote from our ALPA "leadership". You guys are so full of hate you can't see straight.

Hey whinyboy, you don't like it, don't read it. You can put us all on your ignore list you know. Of course if you did that you'd have nothing to bitch about, or to report back to CV or SH & CT about huh?

I don't report to anyone. I read everything, even those things I don't agree with. When you report back to ALPA, just tell them everything is OK. The union ASA jobs are being transferred to non-union Skywest. Make sure and tell DW I said HI!

What's the matter whinyboy, afraid your management job will go bye-bye once evrything is transferred to SKYW? The sky is falling, the sky is falling!

So lets see. We hate management, and we are bad. You hate ALPA and you are good. OK, that makes perfect sense.

So do you agree with Bizjets quote? Regardless of which side of the fence you are on, why the personal attacks. In fact, it is the sign of a weak position.

Actually I said you would be an idiot to believe everything EITHER side says. Would you agree, or are you content to just blindly follow ALPA off the cliff.

Personally I like LJ, and JB for that matter. That doesn't mean that I agree with their politics, and they both know better than to try to convert me. That doesn't mean that I don't find them both pleasant people to be around. But then again, I am not going to tell anyone here who they should or should not like.

And as far as personal attacks, I seem to remember reading personal attacks from YOU about just about every ALPA volunteer out there. You don't like the CNC, the P2Ps, the MEC, or anyhone else. So I would quit throwing those stones at your glass walls.

Yes, follow ALPA off the cliff, while you lose your management position Drivel!

And yet, you seem to believe everything that management tells us. I have YET to see to badmouth ANYTHING about ANY management proposal.

I haven't personally attacked anyone. I simply disagree with those of you who believe ALPA is doing the right thing. It isn't personal, I just think management is winning and ALPA is losing.

Then you aren't reading very well. I said I don't really like PBS. I also said anyone would be an idiot to believe everything EITHER side says. I don't like everything in this is proposal, but I also don't like watching our highest paid aircraft being transferred to Skywest.

So you're aligning yourself with your perceived winners ASADrivel? What are they winning? They aren't winning any fans over at Delta with their mismanagement of the ATL station. Nor at SKYW. Just look at the performance numbers, then the letters that blame it on everything except management! CAN'T BE THEIR FAULT! IT'S THE PILOTS!

VOTED IN FAVOR!

Your like the neighbor that pulls for the team that is in first place, or better yet the player on the team that bad mouths his team mates because they just lost. I can see it now your team is down by 5 points and instead of rallying them you start complaining about how bad the coach is!
Oh well......

No I see reality, something ALPA doesn't see. Tell me how you see our current strategy winning. What great outcome do you see happening?

Stupidest post ever, because you know everyone and everything.

OK, so we settle tomorrow on your terms. How can you guarantee the aircraft transfers will stop? I think they won't. Skywest will still be flying 70 seaters cheaper than us due to their blended rate.

As soon as we settle, the skywest pilots will take a pay cut. Skywest management does not see the union drive as a serious deterrent. The aircraft transfers will continue, and management will come back to the ASA pilots asking for concessions to stop the transfers. "If only we had PBS and a single rate, we might be able to 'win' those aircraft back..." will be their mantra.

Taking concessions for growth is a graveyard spiral. Only a total naieve fool could fail to see that!

:rolleyes:But John, we beat skywst by almost more than 5% in earnings. Yeah they are cheaper due to their blended rate, but WE are making MORE MONEY! We all know why they "think" skywst is cheaper....they don't have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a quarter sending "lost bags" to passengers. WE DO!!! That is why we are more expensive than skywst...below the wing costs, NOT pilot costs. They just want US (the pilots) to fix their inability to manage with paycuts and push blame elsewhere. They can GFTS!
