Premium pay for trips picked up. They should post the names of anyone picking up open time when we are this short staffed with our guys and gals on the street. We need the furloughs back NOW. There is Zero 200 capt reserves available today.

It wouldn't be ASA if they didn't screw it up at least once....

Anybody else getting tired of all these rah-rah "Go-Team" messages and emails. The Brad Holt honeymoon phase is definitely ending. Company back to treating everybody like crap

Our union leadership has never ONCE gone on record to comment on picking up open time while we've had pilots on the street. This isn't a problem just in the summer, it has been a problem since January 1, 2009. I'd love to see our MEC or LEC reps have the balls to say don't pick it up, but they won't. We could have brought a lot of people back and more importantly upgraded some captains.

Please consider the 130+ people on the street who are trying to survive when you choose to pick up a trip for "extra" cash. People with children, mortgages, trying to make ends meet and *choose* which bills to pay this month. Not everyone falls in to the convenient stereotype of the happy-go-lucky 20 year old F.O. with nothing to lose.

Your MEC wont because it would put them and the union in a real legal mess. Get the provision you want in your contract like UPS did.

I thought we were "adequately" staffed!

It was working out so well for them until they started to have to pay time and a half to get things done. Seems a little fiscally retarded if you ask me.

Btw, the "fatigued" rate is climbing. Rightfully so.

You have nothing to worry about in regards to this memo. It said only April 7 (which happens to be TODAY), and tomorrow. It further says that this only applies to pick up. OK, now here is the best part, there is no open time on the schedule! It has already been assigned to reserves. We never have open time inside of 72 hours. The 8th graders running the daily operation here continue to soar above the rest!

Now back to your regularly scheduled ranting.

Oh, BTW, I win for this one:

MESA SUCKS!

We should be happy this is happening, it puts us one step closer to having to recall people. But instead, in true FI fashion, we get to hear all the whining. As for posting the names of the people that pick-up, good luck, the list will be huge.

They LEGALLY CAN'T !!!! To say that would be an illegal job action and cost the pilot group big fines.

What are the line values like again guys? What about reserve utilization? How many people crediting 90+hrs and timing out at the end of the month?

Nope,
Not gonna happen, this is classic B.H., putting people on the payroll cost benefits, time and a half costs only when its offered and can be stopped anytime, unlike furloughs. B.H. is just getting warmed up, prepare for a robust round of reflows, reserves working psychotic schedules and general doouchebaggery from the S.S. department. You will soon hate him with a passion!
Enjoy
PBR
P.S. You will find every loophole in your contact, Brad will point them out and, use every single one to cornhole you.

Sadly, we have Clownair pilots picking up EF, too. They justify it by saying they're saving someone from being junior-manned. I guess they don't realize the union tracks JM events to use the stats against the company when it comes to negotiations or recalls. Sad....

Incentive pay, and you're just now complaining? I've heard some amazing offers made to training department guys to fly right seat for a round trip.. and that's been going on since right after the furloughs began.

I'd hope they are turning them down.

You don't think it's within the reach of our union to relate the quantity of open time pickups and the number of furloughed pilots and put that on an e-mail with ALPA's logo on it? Fine, they can't come out with a rubber stamped message that says you are forbidden to pick up open time, but what's wrong with pointing out a cause and effect? Nothing. Our scheduling committee has the ability to track this data.

Notice how the two cowards who actully wrote the memo had to get a female in scheduling to mail it out for them. Clever scheme to prevent a backlash of angry replies, ya poons.

Bump. Please nobody pick any of this up now and in the future until we bring some people back to their seats. What a kick in the nuts when they say we are adequately staffed.

Why can't the union send out an email reminding everyone that we still have people on furlough? Just a statement of facts.

I know most everyone is struggling now and could certainly use the extra money...but it would be nice to see the pilot group united and taking a stand.

Hell of a concept, I know.

You guys think ALPA can solve anything. Why don't you go talk to our Over Lords about why they haven't. But I'll give you a hint, illegal work action. The company can imply a hell of a lot from an email and then the union spends YOUR money to protect the reps (goons) that made the statement. I don't want my union dues going there. I'd rather have pizza brought in for lunch.

I just picked up one of those premium trips. Can't wait for payday!

There wasn't anything on the -700 open anyway...

Too many morons here who think for some odd reason that the company is broke and that if we don't pick up opentime we'll lose the United flying. There was some fresh B.H. kool-aid going around for the past couple years and I would say a good majority of the pilots lapped it up.

I've heard enough guys say, when I discuss the staffing situation on reserve, "Well it's a good business practice and saves a lot of money so I can see where they are coming from. Brad's a good guy.. you should have seen this place when I got hired here back when I got back from 'Nam."

Contract 2007 is overrated. Any contract that allows what's going on right now to happen is subpar.

And yes, I'm sure Brad's a great guy. My guess is he does not kill puppies or hunt baby seals and drink their blood. But he is an airline president. His goal is to make operating costs as cheap as he can. YOU are an operating cost. You GET what you NEGOTIATE. They will pay you as little as you let them pay you, and will treat you as poorly as you will let them treat you. ASA/Skywest will not go bankrupt if scheduling is not allowed to move off days, has to be adequately staffed, pilots get's 12 hours behind the door, and pays FOs, say, a 10% raise, among many other things.

There was a guy here in another thread who said "you think ASA has a million dollars lying around?" which goes to show how misinformed ASA people are. ASA/Skywest is generating so much cash it's incredible. They just gave United an $80 million loan with something like 11% interest. Give me a break. ASA management is playing us like a friggen piano.

You guys need to stop worrying about everyone else and just take care of yourself. You are in the airline business. Whats the saying; If you haven't been fuloughed you will be. If you want to pick open time to make cash then do it, thats your business, I will if I can. If I were furloughed I also wounldn't be caught sitting on my butt. I would do whatever it takes to pay my bills. So stop complaining and worry about yourself.

A lot of "ifs" in that post JassBuff. We ARE doing whatever it takes to pay the bills on furlough. Well, IF and WHEN it happens to you, then I'll listen to your opinion. For now, just shut you Bii$tch a$$ mouth, and be glad you're not furloughed.
